About the Council of Stellar Management (CSM) election

In the last month, more and more candidates has come forward, advocating them self for the CSM board.

That got me thinking about a couple of questions.
1. When is the election?

2. How is it held and how do we vote?

3. Is there one place where you can get a list of all the candidates and maybe a quick summary of there standpoints.

Reading through "God knows" how many pages in the Jita Park Speakers Corner including one 138 page thread, seems a bit to much.
Do CCP have such a page?

4. Does it matter whom we vote for?

Asked in another way. what has the current CSM achieved?
If they hasn't achieved anything (the CSM is a joke), does it matter then, who is on it?
If they has achieved something (the CSM works as intended): What? Is there a place one can get that info in a short form?

I don't have hours each day to go through all of those forums to look it up myself but I would like to make the right choise when I vote and I think many more would like that too. But as it stands, this election looks more like a medieval marketplace where the one that yell the loudest gets all the publicity and the rest of the candidates get put in the shade.
It's unstructured and chaotic.

Help me and the rest of the playerbase make head and tale of this mess.
Thanks

Ripard Teg for CSM?

Looking to talk on VOIP with other EVE players? Are you new and need help with EVE (welfare) or looking for advice? Looking for adversarial debate with angry people?

EVE Online is a truly hardcore mmo.

You are experiencing a moment of growth as a voter in important internet elections. Savor this moment.

Is the CSM your voting for in your nullsec alliance? There's your answer.

See above.

Above the table, pointless drama. Under the table, more hookups for their faction.

Basically, CSM's are simply special interest group lobbyists who only exist to whine/bribe/extort/blackmail/beg for special game changes that will benefit whatever area of nullsec that their particular alliance would benefit the most from and everyone else can drop dead.

Though there is that one guy from EvE University, so now they've got one person they can point to when they try to say the CSM represents the common player.

If you wonder why it's this way it's simple: Null feudalism operates like the mafia, and the mafia created the "block voting" system that wins elections, CSMs included. Alliance executor says "Everyone vote for our boy here because we need more T2 BPOs and greater moon goo output" and poof, he's got a thousand votes. Independents actually have to work for their votes, so they don't stand a chance comparison.

QFT. Every CSM election should include, alongside the candidates, an option to vote to dissolve the CSM.

Yes.

And I'll even be told who to vote for (though we already know who our ~totaly awesome~ #1 vote will go to.

...

Excellent.

So you're saying you'd like us to tell you who's most eligible, and you'll trust our opinion on the matter? Sounds familiar for some reason.

Vote for me.

Vote for me.

Not unless the People's Political Commissariat says I will.

The Dev blog http://community.eveonline.com/devblog.asp?a=blog&nbid=74283 is a good start

as to what they have achieved, I am the wrong person to ask except in to say that in the last 12 months Two Step a CSM member has probably prevented us from being back stabbed by CCP over the POS update and Issler Dainze was there to help with the mining barge Buff. Also the current CSM has done a great job with the summit minutes.

On the downside, well read Jita park that is why it is there.

Oh and Trebor Daehdoow is the only member of CSM 7 running for re-election.

Any spelling, grammatical and punctuation errors are because frankly, I don't care!!

If you wanted to see a productive CSM then CCP would have to make it like the US House of Representatives (House of Commons for you UK people). The number of CSM seats available to represent a region/style would be based on the number of people living there/doing that. One seat for every 100,000 subscribers in the following regions:

High Sec
Low Sec
Null Sec
WH Space

At 500,000 subscribers that's five seats. If you round off you can maybe fill six or seven, depending on how it goes.

Now add two seats each for:

PvP Content
PvE Content
Mining, Industry and Market

So now we're looking at about a dozen CSM seats, fairly and evenly distributed amongst all regions & aspects of game play.

I giggled because you used the words "fair" and "evenly distributed". You must be new to politics.

Let's all just vote for James315. He has a questionable history and background, rubs elbows with known terrorists, and has extremist ideals. Hell, we put a guy like that in the White House. What harm can some guy in a video game cause?

OP, read the new "voting" rules, the see how the votes were broken down in last years vote, factor in the huge growth and consolidation of the null sec power blocs, and just shrug your shoulders.

Of the 14 seats available, 10-12 are a lock for the major null sec blocs.
From all I can see, there is no pure high sec candidate, which pretty much dooms high sec to having any representation.

High sec income is first and foremost a their biggest target, and they will gladly give up any discussions about POS or Sov mechanics changing, if they can get CCP to wipe out high sec income.

Read the platforms in the CSM subforum, listen to the Zebra Crossings podcast interviews of the CSM candidates, and look at the daily propaganda onslaught in the main forum against high sec.

High sec is doomed. Its destruction will not be completed with this CSM, but they are certainly going to accelerate the process.

I'm interested in this system. What changes have the CSM brought so far?

The very sun of heaven seemed distorted when viewed through the polarising miasma welling out from this sea-soaked perversion, and twisted menace and suspense lurked leeringly in those crazily elusive angles of carven rock where a second glance shewed concavity after the first shewed convexity.

This is both new and interesting and still as false and stupid as every previous election where it is vomited out.

1. Who determines if a subscriber is high, low, null or WH space?
2. What happens if you identify with all of New Eden and don't restrict yourself to one option?
3. If you understand EVE enough to differentiate between ship to ship combat and PVP; would you still break the game into PvP and PvE content?
4. So you won't - then why would you break the game by profession when people can cross over multiple areas?

Here's a thought. Find a candidate that aligns with your play-style and who is working towards achieving what you want out of the game. If you can't find one, start agitating to become your own candidate and gather support. There is no need to segregate players within this brilliant universe.

Just go with the good ideas and support them.

Have a look at the CSM minutes, logs, etc. There is a fair bit of information in EVElopedia.

Man if only CCP had produced a devblog with that info and then put links to all their devblogs in one subforum so you could easily find the one you're looking for!

Did you know that Google has been around since ... was it 1996 or 1998? Not the first search engine, but around longer than EVE Online. Now if you type the phrase "When is the CSM election?" into Google and search the third result for me is the Dev Blog. That makes it even easier than having to go to a Devblog subforum.

You can just search the internet and it will dispense knowledge like an oversized Pez dispenser.

Pretty sure CCP has access to all relevant charts.

Snapshot. Where is everyone's main located when the snapshot is taken?

Yes.

The region seats are by population (Representatives) The profession seats are fixed at two each (Senate). If you happen to have more than one profession this has no effect on the number of profession seats.
