Does anyone really play Eve with just 1 character and no alts.

Yes. This "I" might one day make off with your highsec corp's stuff, of course.

This game is MMO, if you play with alts, is just like any other single player game with multiple Boxes.

If I would like to play alone and control several characters at the same time, I will play the X series or any other space sim.

I know players who have small fleets on their own, with scouts, DPS, ECM and logis, and they are quite good with them.

But I still don't see the point of that. I prefer to make roams and operations with a corp, isntead of myself with multiple accs.

Playing with alts is nothing like playing single player games. The reason for alts is convenience or wanting to do multiple different playstyles at the same time. If you have an alt, you're always guaranteed to have the ability there when you need it. It's not dependent on anything or anyone else and won't inconvenience anyone else. You can also trust it without a doubt, so they provide great benefits you simply can't replicate perfectly with other people.

The way training works also makes using alts very attractive. Either you wait for years to be able to fully specialize in multiple professions or you use additional accounts and progress in them all from the start with characters you've made yourself. If you want to play in many different ways and aren't poor, there really isn't much reason not to use an alt account for this.

I'm making 3billion isk per week on my main character, so I've gotten to a point where I can afford 2 accounts and just started up my alt earlier this week with the intention of having that character fly a Chimera by end of the year and then move into a Wyvern by end of next summer.

If you have a good isk income every week like me then you can actually afford many accounts. But I only plan on using two as that's all I really need.

Just me, alone, on my one account.

I'm too confused by my own actions to manage more than that...P

This comes up again and again.

I do understand the reasoning behind it, but it's flawed. Especially for a sandbox MMO.

Unless of course you want to argue that playing games like Starcraft, or any multiplayer game really, against a human opponent, is the same as playing against the AI?

Emergent gameplay doesn't happen when you're alone with AI. Just because someone spends the majority of their time playing solo, doesn't mean they don't value what a gameworld filled with other humans brings to the table.

Having alts does not prevent someone from interacting and teaming up with other players.

Also there are many kinds of MMOs. For example...MMO-RTS where you have each player controlling multiple units in the game world. To some Eve-Online is an MMO-RTS.

Wow, pretty rude people posting......

Single character here. I'm not made of money.

I'm one of those few people who treats eve like some sort of game that is casual fun in spare time or something.

I have one active account. This is my main and the only character I use in the game. If I need help with something, I just ask other players.

This is a MMORPG, right?

I played EVE for the last two years without an alt. I recently got one. It's amazing you can do two things at once!

I have an alt account and a couple alts, but I don't use them for support. They're more like temporarily amusing character creations. Actually, this is my only active account atm; my other has been offline since winter. Don't have much use for alts or multi-boxing.

Just a corp alt that keeps it open while I'm off actually participating with other groups.

Otherwise I'm a one toon man for about 4.25 years.
