Resub for another month, follow previous posters advice. Get frigs, go to losec. I did the same thing last year with rifters. it was a fun day.

Despite my posting prowess I really am terrible at this game

Confirming that there are plenty of fun things to be done with Frigates and even corps out there who rarely fly anything else *koff*

Ok, you win...

I've been having an unbeleive time!

Just as i was thinking of leaving, i made a quick and cheap incursus fit and flew into low sec for some plexing.

This time, i ran just before getting killed burning ship intact! I warped to a nearby station in the panic and managed to find some player wrecks to loot :)

finally, in my panic, I found myself in what I think was Caldari high sec space where I got podded and found out about kill rights :) Hopefully someone will buy mine!

I'm all subbed up and I got a plex (although I don't quite have the funds to sell it yet!) and I think i've realised a lot of what you all have been saying. This is a game of investing time. If i want a quick blast, i can go to sc2 for that. This is more about playing YOUR game and building up to what you want to do. I kept feeling it was all a grind to the next big thing but that's all part of the journey

I'm finding the certificates helpful and i'm having a surprising amount of fun working the Markets as well.

A little over the initial learning curve and the horizon is in sight

Thanks again

Veda

Yes, we win again. A new brave soul has been converted (and soon won't even play sc2 anymore).

Someone who never joined a player corporation isn't having fun and is considering quitting?

How terribly unexpected.

Though I do agree with the part of joining a corporation does help it DOES NOT mean that if you staying in a NPC corp means you can't have fun nor does it mean that joining a player corp instantly DOES mean you do have fun.

Well it was a good read and im glad to see youre staying. Eve needs more people like you who can be open minded about things.

If you need any help with industry or the market, send me an evemail and ill be happy to lend you the benefit of my experience.

As others have said, eve is your game, your story, your choice. So its important to do what you want to do. Dont listen to the "my way is the only way to play eve RAWWWWRRRRR" foaming at the mouth brigade.

Youll also have fun meeting a good group of folks. This doesnt have to be in a corp. There are lots of groups in eve who join public channels to chat.

So a +1 for you being a coherent and well mannered chap and anther for staying.

Welcome to the world of eve. You will never leave once it takes you. Twisted

This is not correct, you don't need fancy ships to have fun, you don't need massive isk to have fun. Sure there's limitations on what you can do but you're not helping yourself by looking ahead 6 months and ogling ships you can't use yet, instead enjoy what you can do now and in 3 days and trust me, newbies can do a whole lot.

That was my initial impression. I've not flown anything other than frigates and mission reward ships intentionally for that reason.

It's finding a place to play solo with frigates and more importantly, keep up the funds to replace them

I do see what your saying. I just don't understand what I can do now rather than seeing it as a stepping stone to another class of ship?

Veda

FW has plexs that are divided into different sizes that only let in the same size ships. The smallest kind only lets in T1 frigates and destroyers. Solo you will have a much harder time than in a fleet as a newbie though.

The irony of being a n00b is that by the time you realize all the fun things one can do as a n00b, you're no longer a n00b. What?

Try joyriding. It requires nothing - just take a n00bship, and go screaming out into RedSpace - Nul. See how far you can go before getting popped. See if you can get your pod back in one piece. You lose your ship, you'll get another one just like it, for FREE! next time you dock up. Or when your clone wakes up, presuming you've got no ships in your base station.

Depending on your SP, you might not even have to update your clone, which makes this absolutely FREE! (actually, very minor profit - do it enough, and you'll amass a small pile of Tritanium Lol )
I have an alt which does nothing BUT this. Though I will admit to outfitting his n00bship with some interesting mods. A properly-fit n00bship can be remarkably fast and slippery. Cool

Tell someone you love them today, because life is short. But scream it at them in Esperanto, because life is also terrifying and confusing.

Didn't vote? Then you voted for NulBloc
