Looking for suggestions on how to improve my Hookbill. With my current skills, can dish out around 100 DPS and tank about the same (4,085 EHP). Tried various fits, and until I have Engineering/Electronics V (both currently @ IV) this is about all I can squeeze out of the ship.

Running a dual ASB setup came out on top versus other fits, but not by much. The DPS offered by this ship is going to top out around 130, so I'm not worried about that so much as staying power.

[Caldari Navy Hookbill, PvP Hookbill]

Experimental 1MN Afterburner I
X5 Prototype Engine Enervator
Faint Epsilon Warp Scrambler I
2x Small Ancillary Shield Booster (Cap Booster 25)

Damage Control II
Ballistic Control System II

Small Processor Overclocking Unit I
Small Core Defense Field Extender I
Small Anti-EM Screen Reinforcer I

Change out a booster for a tracking disruptor. Use navy charges. Replace Small Processor Overclocking Unit I with either extender or anti EM.

Do not seek to follow in the footsteps of the wise. Seek what they sought.

If I remove an ASB, I have about 29 CPU to play with. Meta 4 tracking disruptor uses 32 CPU.

Downgrade the DCU to an Internal Force Field Array (meta 4). It requires 17 CPU versus the DCU II's 30. It's a good way to free up some CPU if you don't mind spending a few million.

And also costs an a**load more. I just can't justify spending 4-6 mill to save 13 CPU. OP, you may want to try a single Medium ASB (cap booster 50 charges) and 2 webs, or a web and TD. With Dual webs, you can control range very easily, and if you fit a TD instead of the second web you have a wider option of targets outside of frigates. You can also do dual web + MSE or web, TD, and MSE. Here are examples of the fits.

Hookbill: Dual Web MASB

Highs:
'Arbalest' Rocket Launcher I x3 (Caldari Navy Scourge Rocket)

Mids:
Experimental 1mn Afterburner I
Faint Epsilon Warp scrambler I
X5 Prototype Engine Enervator I x2
Medium Ancillary Shield Booster I (cap booster 50)

Lows:
Damage Control II
Nano fiber Internal Structure II

Rigs:
Small Anti-EM Screen Reinforcer I x2
Small Anti-Thermal Screen Reinforcer I

Plenty of grid left, but CPU is a little tight even with Electronics 5, so if you need more, drop an EM rig for a Processor Overlocking Unit, or drop the nano for a CPU Enhancer.

Hookbill: Dual Web MSE

Highs:
'Arbalest' Rocket Launcher I x3 (Caldari Navy Scourge Rocket)

Mids:
Experimental 1mn Afterburner I
Faint Epsilon Warp Scrambler I
X5 Prototype Engine Enervator I x2
Medium Shield Extender II

Lows:
Damage Control II
Micro Auxiliary Power Core I

Rigs:
Small Anti-EM Screen Reinforcer I
Small Core Defense Field Extender I x2

CPU is still a little tight, so if you ned more,
Drop either an EM rig or an Extender rig for the Processor Overclocking Unit.

Now for TD's, just drop one of the webs. If you had enough CPU w/o a rig while fitting 2 webs, but run out when swapping a web for a TD, just slap on a CPU rig.

Good luck Smile

My best advice is fly the cheaper Kestrel or Condor until you've remedied your skills a bit. Until you get better skills it's a good idea to fly cheap ships, so when you lose it (and you will lose ships. I guarantee that if you fly in PvP you will lose ships) it doesn't hurt as much. However if you have disposable income a double web, MSE, AB, rocket HB is a good one to fly. You can even choose to drop one of the webs to put on a tracking disruptor to **** with people. As I type this I am reading the above post, and the fit he has there is a good one. Replace mods with fitting mods as need be.

Thanks for the fits!

I'd rather stick with the Hookbill. I've lost ships before, and I'm fine with putting more on the line because frankly, you get a lot more in return w/ the Hookbill versus another T1 frigate.

I'll probably end up with the single web/TD version because it offers more versatility. Thanks again!

Not without basic skills to V you dont. The T1 frigates will perform as well if not better given your skills.

def roll MSE instead of ASB
with dual web u can use rage rockets which will significantly boost your dmg output but its hard to go past the tactical ability of the ab web td combo for range control and dmg mitigation
