Bring On The Cheap Mins

Behold... the "Age of Cheap Ships" is just about upon us. Big smile

As the "Ret Generation" cheerfully gobbles up asteroid fields hither and yon, in easily replaced and cheap barges, the price of Trit has begun it's tumble in Jita.

Ganks might be a little rarer (or practically non-existent, depending on who's "expert" opinion makes you all warm and tingly) but hey, player subscriptions are UP and that amazing Alt-buddy deal has meant nothing but AFK mining goodness. Big smile

So rejoice, denizens of New Eden, rejoice. The heady days of overpriced mins are over... right ? Blink

Sorry what exactly?

When I started Tier 1 Battleships were 50mil, Tier 2 Battlecruisers were 26mil.

The new barges have been out for months and prices are holding steady at close to double what they were in 2010, what is bringing on this cheaper ship craze?

Great, when prices go down again, the next step in the loot nerf can come and they no longer drop modules but BPCs that need to be built into meta items with minerals.

After that comes the removal of static belts and dynamic depletion mechanics for ore availability by system strain.

Patience, we will get there in a few months.

Loss is meaningful. Therefore is the loss of meaning likewise meaningful. It is the source of all trolling.

When I started, Tier 1 BSs were 100M and Tier 2 BCs were 50M… and another 50M to rig… and another 30M to fit.

They're already cheap as chips. Then again, back then, trit sold for 2.5 ISK a pop as well…

Your ideas are intriguing to me and I wish to subscribe to your newsletter.

AFAIK are the belts not static. These do already respond to heavy mining by respawning weaker asteroids once they get mined out and start growing again when left untouched.

Pfft, n00b. When I started tier 1 BSs sold for like 60m and BCs didn't exist. Trit was 1 ISK.

Edit: From my perspective everything is super inflated. I remember tier 3 frigs costing 150-200k. They now cost 500-600k. Destroyers costed 400-500k. They now cost 1.1-1.2 million.

The Moa looked teh sexy on a teletype. Not sure what happened to it when Eve transitioned to CGA graphics.

Excess supply and cheap prices are increasingly making this game pointless. When ships cost nothing to lose, you're essentially removing consequence from the game.

It also makes it difficult for casual players to enjoy mining if they have to compete with so many different people.

Dear Dongsmacker 76

I Commodore Jensaro hereby state that as of now with intentions of hostility I am opening fire on your position immediately and inviting several of my comrades in arms to do likewise. My Flagship the Redoubtable an Omen class vessel has pelted your vessel currently unknown in name of the Badger class with five Cannons of Tech Two Roundshot. I have also launched several unmanned radio controlled attack rockets of the Warrior class.

I shall cease hostility towards you if you surrender five hundred thousand in space credits to be enclosed in your next communique. I eagerly await your answer in the four days allotted to you for reply.

Dear Commodore Jensaro,

As Lieutenant Dongsmacker 76, of the Badger class vessel Rat Trap, I must inform you that It is not you that have me, it is I that have you. I have entangled your ship with a web of grapling hooks, rendered your propulsion system inoperable by jamming your screws, and lit a beacon to summon a full squadron of my pirate hunting friends. The only reason that I ride so low in the water is not that I carry so much cargo, it is that I have armored and fortified my hull against most attacks, and you would be hard pressed to sink me before my friends arrive and dispatch you.

Good day to you sir

/me ties the grappling hooks to the ship, moves all the missiles next to the self destruct powder keg, lights the fuse and orbits at 500.

Edit: This made me picture a Spelljammer MMO and I got the weirdest boner...
