Well, let's hear your story.

Here's mine:

I was barely a week old many, many years back. I was feeling proud of the new merlin I had acquired. I figured I would take it for a test drive. I set my autopiolit and off I went. I was merrily on my way to a location some 20 jumps from my original starting point (I believe it was for some training mission).

Then a string of unfortunate events occoured. I recieved a work related phone call. This diverted my attention from the game. After hanging up with the phone call, I got the dreaded "Wife aggro". This of course led to me completely missing the fact the autopiolit took me into low-sec (the original default setting, I had never changed it). Where my ship was torn to shreds and my pod was raped.

When I returned to the game and saw I was in a station, I initally assumed I had arrived at my destination. It took several minutes to figure out why I was not in my destination station and WTF happened to my new merlin.

I have learned alot since those early days.

- Always check autopiolit settings and route before clicking the A
- Never let a phone call distract me from casually watching the game
- Ignore the wife until safely docked

Ship was a rfiter, event was some random battle while we were shooting structure. Bubble. Bombers.

Might have been a blackbird, I don't remember.

My first trip into null after a few weeks of playing, in a cheap Atron. Just cause I was curious. Me and a friend flew in, saw an assault frigate, thought "hey, a frigate! 2vs1, lets go for it!". Didn't know about spamming warp etc. back then.

Myself & a friend tagged along on a null sec roam with the sole purpose of losing our PVP/Pod cherries, After much fannying about holding cloaks & trying to not make dicks of ourselves we finally found a gatecamp to explode in.

We died a glorious death & i was the only one to get their pod out of the initial battle, I smugly warped my pod off & due to my inexperience went directly gate to gate & i dropped into a bubble & was squished.

It was a great night & a much needed experience.

Very new to the game I joined a PvP corp, more or less fitted a Rifter (had to use a power grid mod because even T1 fitting was too hard for young me Big smile) and happily went to Old Man Star.

It was the time of black screens of death (expecially in OMS) and of warp gate from Villore into OMS => 5 minutes of lag => wake up in station.

One day I actually made it out, went to a safe spot and then... the game "unwound back in the past" and I sort of mysteriously ended back to the gate and got popped. Shocked

That would be it. A pirate snuck into high sec. Me and about 8 other beginners at the time swarmed him in our Ibis and Banta ships and managed to shave off half his shields. He warped out and then returned shortly after with a friend and blew us to bits.

It was worth it.

The very sun of heaven seemed distorted when viewed through the polarising miasma welling out from this sea-soaked perversion, and twisted menace and suspense lurked leeringly in those crazily elusive angles of carven rock where a second glance shewed concavity after the first shewed convexity.

I was invited to the game by an IRL friend, who proceeded to set me up for an interesting courier job. Got 5 mil in advance to pick up & drop off a module. I was already told not to jump from gate to gate and why, so it was a good exercise in d-scanning for bubbles. Eventually I jumped a gate that was bubble camped on the other side, exploded and promptly got podded. Lol

I had just bought some 20M implants and I thought I was hot stuff, and I jumped into nullsec, was immediately caught in a bubble, killed and podded before I could even understand what was happening to me. This was a long, long time ago. 2005 I think. Since then I have died many times and my pod is not only no longer a virgin but to extend the analogy, has probably "been with" everyone in EvE at least once (and shared all its STD's).

There I was, a week old, sneaking my Venture into LowSec for some tasty space rocks, when everything I heard happened in LowSec happened to me simultaneously. I knew then what I wanted to be when I grow up.

A lowsec gatecamper,
OR
A highsec miner?

Someone opens up convo:

Someone; Hey new guy, I saw you were in system and wondered if you wanted some free stuff.
Me; Sure, everyone likes free stuff.
Someone; I'll send you a fleet invite and you can warp to me and i'll drop it in space.
Me; Okay... So I just take it from this can yea?
Someone; Yep, just take it. All yours. Ignore the pop up.

I ignore the pop up; BOOM!

Then you sat there and got podded, right?

In low-sec, when I was hauling stuff in and out and got pinned down by an Onyx, who introduced me to the meaning of "infinite warp scramble strength" and with it had me stunned long enough for him to pod-kill me.

A classic WTF-moment.

Loss is meaningful. Therefore is the loss of meaning likewise meaningful. It is the source of all trolling.

Didn't even know I lost it to PvP nor the next 3. Most of my early ratting ships were practically unfit except guns. Didn't know missions existed and thought all the big rats were in Low Sec. I died to the rats as often as to players in my dessies / cruisers.

Later I took the time to learn how to play the game.

I think this is the first. I blocked out the name as I sold him long ago.

I learned about gate camps that day wandering into nulll in a Badger Mk II. I also felt the exhilaration of not paying ransom and waking up in a new clone.

I haven't lost a pod yet on this account. On the original account a m0o gatecamp got me.

Your corp leader was a scrub and had no business leading anything. Someone needs to teach him about tracking. I hope you're in a different corp now.
