T3 ships; how do they work?

So. T3 ships look intriguing, but they're complex and expensive. So, I have questions for you people:

How do subsystems work?
Can you change them out after first fitting them?
What are T3 ships good for, with all that versatility?

Different subsystems allow a T3 to be configured to do many tasks each subsystem come with its own 'Drawback' for instance the Sub that allows a T3 to be a covert ops reduces turrets and hardpoints making it less dps and more stealth, things like that.

Yes you can change Subsystems in any stations fitting service.

T3's excellent ships for many aspects of the game from Cloaked Interdiction Bubble Dodger (cant be stopped with bubbles) to heavy tank Sleeper site runner (resists over 90% an easy goal) and the list goes on and on.

Great ships to learn, painfull ship to lose, as the loss of this ship will also cost you one of the Subsystems skills, and you will have to re-train it.

Things that keep me up at night;  Why do we use a voice communication device to send telegraphs? Moore's Law should state, Once you have paid off the last PC upgrade you will need another.

Okay. Since I'm a minmatar pilot, I'll be training for a Loki first. Suggested fits/uses?

The name of the game with T3s is "I want it to do this, so... fits?" So what do you want to do with your Loki?

There's nothing worse than an EVE player, generally considered to be top of the food chain in the MMO world, that cannot smacktalk with wit and coherency.

Well, maybe L4 missions, maybe sleeper sites, maybe low/null exploration, maybe pvp.

It simply knocks it down 1 level. It either picks the highest one, or if they are all the same level, picks at random.
At most you lose 4 days training

Does it remove the skill entirely if it's at level 1 when you lose the rank?

Holy ****, good question. But I don't have the answer because you really shouldn't be flying one with a sub skill at 1... I'd assune though it knocks it down to "injected but 0"

They are all rank 1 skills so they take almost no time to train to IV which is the lowest you should be flying them at.

Obviously.
However, that question was my first thought on plugging the skills in.

This is correct. You need all the relevant subsystem skills at level 1 to even crawl inside a T3 ship... If you die, it goes back to level 0...and you have train it back up to level 1 before entering the same type of ship.

This is actually a pretty good summary of what they're good at.
