Ok this has been going on long enough, and I dont seem to get answers in eve help channel, so I thought to ask here even if I'm not a new player.

Currently I cannot join eve voice. I assumed it has to do with my firewall blocking it, but I dont know possible ip address and ports required for eve voice to function that I could open. I can use external teamspeak 3 normally once I open the ports to that server, but the problem is that I dont know what those would be for eve voice.

If I click join fleet audio in fleet window, nothing happens, also the button is greyed out. I get "logged out of audio chat" whenever I login first time. I have eve voice enabled in my settings..

Is there something I need to open up in my firewall for eve voice to function?

The problem has persisted for so long I dont even remember, but now that Im in FW it starts to be annoying.

EVE Voice is part of EVE, so by playing EVE you should be able to join EVE-V.

As I hardly use it (teamspeak 3 user) I can only give you 1 tip that I found that worked for me.

When you open the fleet manager while in a fleet on the top right of the window there are 5 icons (fleet voice, wing voice, squad, alliance, corp). Clicking them will activate hearing on them, clicking it again makes your mic switch to it.

Personal channel: Crazy Dutch Guy

Help channel: Help chat - Reloaded

Public roams channels: RvB Ganked / Redemption Road / Spectre Fleet / Bombers bar / The Content Club

Yes, those are the icons I talked about, but clicking them does nothing for me?

Try right clicking the icon. I have a Mac and left clicking does not do anything but for some reason right click allows my to select join channel.

Start the day off slow and taper off from there.

Iirc if I rightclick, I get a pulldown option "join channel: fleet" or something, but clicking it does nothing still.

Try contacting Vivox for some help since they are the ones that made the system EVE uses.

And actually J'Poll, the EVE voice system run independent from the client. Years ago I'd get client crashes and still be able to talk to people provided I didn't click the button that had windows "report the issue" from the crash and I left it hanging open.

Well this is kind of what I expected, and I suspect that the reason its not working for me is because my firewall blocks this program access to the eve voice servers whereever they may be. Is there a separate exefile related to the eve voice if its independent? I tried to look but couldnt find anything. If there was I could assign it some rights thru the firewall as well..

I'm kind of waiting for a ccp rep to tell me the IP address of the eve voice server so I can allow traffic to that address.. Or some idea what to do. I am using f-secure client security.

Try these port settings, see if it works. Often I find that you must have mic plugged in when you start up the client, plug and play doesn't seem to work.

Once you have mic in, client started, press escape, check that you have EVE voice enabled. Try the voice test button to confirm (it does an Echo test so you can hear what you sound like).

Once all those steps completed, you SHOULD be able to join a channel and speak/hear.

If not, restart the client again, and retry.

Thanks a lot for that! I'm going to try that out later.

If that doesn't work then contact Vivox like I said. Last time a friend of mine was having network issues with EVE voice they were able to clear it right up for him. They would likely be able to give you a specific port or IP to use.

Nope, opening the ports in the above wiki link didn't help. Still no go on eve voice. I can play normally except for eve voice.

I can also use Teamspeak 3 fine, as long as I open the ports to the TS server correctly. I wish a dev of some sort would pitch in to say what exactly is needed for running eve voice correctly..

(took bit longer to test this out than I thought)

If you want a devs response...you can wait a long time on the forums.

Official dev/gm help goes through petitions.

And I still haven't seen you try contacting Vivox yet...

They developed the entire system so I'm sure they know more about it than CCP does.
