Then, as a counter, I'd have cloaked ships show up on Dscan, which could be used to find where to fly to decloak them while they are in a bubble

You'd then have to buff nullsec income to make it worth my time with the hassle of my ship being blown up. Good luck as Tech Moons are just the first target.

Twist your brain around this....+300 days since my last pve ship loss in w-space with no local and cloakies not showing up on dscan. I PVE almost daily when the opportunity is right.

Stop crying that local & afk cloakers have anything to do with your safety. It's about your laziness.

I commend you for doing wormhole space... it was far too much effort. for my blood (too little profit margins for like 5x the effort of even lowsec)

If by butthurt you mean couldn't care less and trolls the forums for lols... Then yes.

Eve online isnt about the size of the ship... a lot can be done without killboards...

Used to anyways... I don't know when this changed.

Oh, we certainly do approve. AFK cloaky campers never hurt anyone.

and this is the main problem.

Eve is all about conflict and wars. We should get ability to hurt other players when we afk.... Let's say boosting your gang from POS when you afk.... Or preventing someone from carebearing when you are sleep or went to shop....

I too love the idea of being completely invisible while monitoring system traffic, setting up drops, and gathering intel. The best part is there is no counter and it can even be done in a T1 frig. In a game that's all about checks and balances and everything has a counter, this seems to be an anomaly.

This has already been done in 2500 systems. It is called W-space. If you don't like local give it a try.

I like how everyone says that if they are afk, they can't hurt you. Along with my answer about local, that answer is obviously simplistic, dont ya think?

Anyway, such is the game, deal with it or station spin. Dock in the station for days on end while afk and give the afk cloaker a reason to exist.

I have a suggestion. Make a specific ship type only good for for scanning down cloaked ships. Make the scan interactive so someone needs to be at the keyboard in order to actively do it. Something like scanning a planet in PI. Make it skill dependent on the players part and the characters part. It should take about 15-20 minutes of active work. While all this is going on, the ship doing the scanning is completely vulnerable to even weak attacks and shows like a beacon to cloaked vessels. If it has shield or armor or even thick plating it interferes with the new scan. A cloaked vessel should also have some means to counter the scan. While scanning you can't even see your overview, so a cloaked player at the keyboard would have very little trouble blowing this ship up. This accomplished the following.

AFK cloaking for hours on end would be dangerous to your ship you'd need to at least pay passive attention to see if someone is scanning for you. You can still go grab a bite to eat or a smoke because it takes longer than that to scan you down, but you need to check things out every little bit.

AFK nullsec ratters need to be active at the keyboard in order to alleviate this threat. Bots would not be able to accomplish the scan so bots can either take your chances or station up.

It would make sure everyone is at least paying half attention to what's going on while they are cloaking, mining or ratting said system and would make it harder for mining/ratting bots or AFK cloakers to operate with impunity.

You can pick your friends and you can pick your nose but you can't pick your friends nose. Unless you podded them...and collected their corpse.

How about people just deal with it and realize its a part of the game instead of crying to CCP to have them change it.

I heard that CCP is going to disallow cloaky AFK camping on the same day they they disallow frieghter ganking in HI SEC:

So according to ranters like James315 expect it to happen any day now Roll in that spirit I heard after James315 nerfs HI SEC to SiSi he's going to start a new campaign of bumping cloakies complete with 2 page rants in the EveO forums about how AFK cloakers are worse then Hitler (CCP really?? Das Führer und Reichskanzler last name is censored? ) just like miners in HI SEC are P. In order to buy a cloak in Eveyou'll need a permit issued by NWO & agree to codes of when you can't use it ( eg: its never allowed to be turned on in Delve )
An' then Chicken@little.com, he come scramblin outta the Terminal room screaming "The system's crashing! The system's crashing!" -Uncle RAMus, 'Tales for Cyberpsychotic Children'

Stop crying that local & afk cloakers have anything to do with your safety. It's about your laziness.

The reason I can't agree with this is that WH space and null space are two different beasts driven by different mechanics. Not to say I dismiss your point entirely. Just that, parking an AFK cloaker in WH space requires different parameters and produces different results than doing it in null space.

To name a few, preparing a cloakie in WH space will require you to put in extra work scanning down, finding, and reasearching whether there are viable targets in the system. In null sec space, you can pretty much park at any known busy hub, no scanning or research required. Simply park and wait.

Results are also different. You can't cyno in friends, or even know how many potential predators are waiting on you to pounce.

In short, an AFK cloaker operating in WH space deals with more unkown variables and erratic risk/reward ratios. For this reason I wouldn't expect to see many AFK cloakers.

Make it so that null sec entry points aren't as predictable and accessible, remove local, and restrict the ability to cyno attack, in other words, the AFK cloaker now has to put in some actual work, and then we can compare the success/failure of AFK cloaking in 0.0/WH.
