Drone boat pvp

I was looking to get into a ship with a large drone bay for small gang pvp. I'd like to have a large drone bay to be able to have sentries and smaller drones. A good tank would be great as well! If possible a ship with some dps without drones would be nice but not needed. Thanks for your help!

Myrmidon, Ishtar, Gila, Proteus, Dominixes and Rattlesnake can field at least 4 big drones, other drone-bonused ships only 3 or less. Flight of mediums is often a pretty good choice, tho, making the Vexor, Prophecy and Arbi solid options as well. Amarr recons are a bit more specialized but good.

Can't the vexor go mixxed drones with a heavy or two?

Either way small gang boat with drones.... VEXOR. It's a lovely little boat. I am surprised I can't see it mentioned above me :/

The Vexor is a strong workhorse. I highly recommend it to anyone that wants to use drones.

Generally, I would go down the Gallente line of drone boats if you are just beggining to learn how to fly one. The other race's drone boats tend be more specialized and you won't get the most of out of them when you are just learning how drones work in PVP. For example it will be hard micro-managing the drones when you are also fiddling the the nos/nuets on an amarr drone boat if you are using one in PVP for the first time.

Gallente drone boats are straight up drone boats, no fancy fluff added onto it. the ships are easier to fit and more forgiving to mistakes. you can also focus entirely on tanking and your drones unlike the others which can give you more utility, EHP, and DPS than the drone boats of the other races.

Not to say the other drone boats are bad, they are really good actually. However they are harder to use for a new PVPer.

Many gallente drone boats aren't straight up drone boats. They give a bonus to both hybrids and drones. Some of them aren't exactly easy to fit, either. Just try to fit the vexor navy issue like you would with the vexor. If you focus mostly on tanking with the dominix it'll do as much or less DPS of a battlecruiser. It becomes a big brick with little damage, and with destroyable weapons.

Yes, Vexor, like all the 75 mbit/s ships can field the max gank* flight of two heavies, two mediums and one light. However heavies aren't ideal against all targets you engage in a cruiser so using mediums might result in more applied dps, and allows for more spare drones in your smallish Gallente drone bay.

What I'm talking about is that the Amarr bones are intended to be fitted with nos/nuets, you don't really have to but that's where the main utility comes from on those ships. The other factions drone boats also have similar specializations for them

While the Gallente droneboats do also recieve hybrid bonuses, they can be used effectively with only utilities in the high slots.

or you can use the dual damage bonus to get an obscene amount of damage, at least on the domi, navy domi, and vexor. Mostly the vexor though, domis with guns are more of a pve thing, although you can break the 1k dps mark pretty easily. I haven't flown the vexor since the rebalance, but back when it had a 5/3/4 layout, you could fit a mwd, LSE, scram, heavy electron blasters, small neut, 3mfs, and dc, with shield resist rigs, and get something like 800 paper dps. I expect its even better now.

OP wants sentries, so that throws out a lot of what has been recommended in here, like the vexor. gila shares the best drone damage bonus with the ishtar, but also gets a massive tank as well as pretty nice agility and speed. only drawback really is that being a faction boat will give it special attention.

It is.

I know sometimes it's difficult to realize just how much you spend on incidental things each month or year, but seriously, EVE is very cheap entertainment compared to most things... If you are a smoker, smoke one less pack a week and pay for EVE, with money left over to pick up a cheap bundle of flowers for the EVE widow upstairs.

the ishtar has enough calibration for 2 x sentry dmg rigs for superior sentry output unlike the gila which is limited
