I've heard different opinions on this and I'm not experienced enough myself to make my own opinion about it.
Do you think Stealth Bombers are viable for solo roaming, especially when NOT in nullsec?
Since there are no bombs in low and you can't really afford to get into a fight in a bomber.

Ok so I've seen some funny results in solo videos by cloaking in a FW plex and waiting for some idiot to come along then messing them up with a rocket fit basically.

You could also go batshit crazy and fit up a 10mn manticore with OGB links.

However a standard, torp spewing manticore? It's got a very small engagement envelope when solo so yes you can do it but you'll have very few targets you can win against.

It can be done.

I should ask yoursel a diferent question:

What do I want to hunt?

then how do I get the best chance at getting that prey?

the answer to that can be a stealthbomber

SB's don't solo all that well. Your best defense is attacking from outside targeting and weapons range, so fitting a point already has you really close. Torps move slowly, and most ships big enough to attack will tank enough volleys to return the favor in kind. Unlike tackling a big boat in a normal frig or AF, you have nothing to pop drones with, which will donkey-punch your SB in moments, and point range is well within drone range.

You can do it, but it's very slow and methodical, you need an ideal situation, then time to move into position, etc. It's a huge time investment for very little KM payoff.
But SB's multiply their power projection quickly, and just a couple SB's running in a wolf pack can really shine. Someone is still likely to die as there is no tank on SB's. But few sub caps can withstand several volleys of torps landing from every direction at once, and you can bring them down before they can sic the dogs on all of you.

SB's are meant to alpha things into powder before it has time to kiss it's own a$$ goodbye much less shoot back. But the downside of the face melting DPS of torps is that anything big enough to throw them at generally has a gigantic tank and can simply deal with a single SB's volleys long enough to react.

Lets hope the change to torps has some effect on the SB. I have this ship and it's t2 torps rotting away.. with the typhoon.

I can see why they changed the old sb, for mostly pve reasons.. but i wish they just reduced the range instead, reduced some of the exp bonuses but left it powerfull enough that it was still the boogy man to t1 frigates (insta poping anybody not at high speed etc).

When i came back to eve and discovered my hound and typhoon were nion useless.... half of what i liked and trained for went down the shitter. Then ofc the hurricane got nerfed recently along with how sub par bc's are anyway with all the frig/cruiser spam. Lost another chunk of my enjoyment with the cane. Luckily i also enjoy exploration, but i can't just do exploration only ;/. Got nothing else trained though, the bs (and mainly torp) change can't come quicker.

While I can't fly one myself yet, I've seen a few stealth bombers in action. I can't imagine they'd be very viable solo. They're pretty much the textbook definition of a glass cannon.

Bout the only interesting thing you could do is hide in a Small FW plex and try to surprise pvp LP farmers,

Anything can be done, but you're severely limiting your target selection.

Stealth bombers are excellent solo PvP platforms. Of course, especially given their fragility, you need to take care in your choice of target … but that applies to solo PvP in any ship. They are also a lot of fun for solo w-space PvP.

There have been a bundle of previous posts along these lines … some with virtually identical titles. I have responded to some of them in some depth, and suggest you search them out for more details.

I guess I am almost a 'vet' by now. Hopefully not too bitter and managing to help more than I hinder. I build and sell many things, including large collections of bookmarks.

this.

my prefered environment for them would be 0.0 or wh's, not low-sec.
