POS weapon batteries fire wrong size ships

If there is large artillery battery ready in POS and lots of different size hostile ships warp to POS who is battery starting to fire at? I asked this in chat area and people said that it is randomly selected who is fired upon. I think this is huge bug if this is true. Large artillery battery uses XL ammunition and can only do effectively damage to super capitals / capital ships.

I propose fix for this serious bug:

1. Weapon batteries have limited selection of ship sizes they fire upon so Large Artillery Battery never fires a single shot against sub-capital ships so it cannot be fooled to fire upon a frigate while titan destroys POS.

2. This also prevents weapon batteries with Medium ammunition to fire at capital ships that can easily tank them.

I want to hear discussion of this proposal.

I wouldnt go as far as to not shoot at smaller/bigger targets at all, but some priority list based on sizes(sig)/ship types might be a good thing. Maybe even player configurable priority list: gun tries to find ship types/sig ranges in that list, if nothing matches - fires at random.

Its not really an issue IMO as the vast majority of time people attacking a POS either:

(A) Massively under-estimate it and are easily despatched by haphazard POS defences
(B) Come tooled up to do the job proper and POS defences do little more than prolong the inevitable

POS gunners online and/or a defence fleet are what generally tips the balance.

The POS is a bug... and need a total rework from the start.... everyone is asking it... it need a revamp!

It's not as simple as you think. A Frigate can still be poped by a larger POS weapon if they aren't moving, or are moving towards it at enough distance.

Former forum cheerleader CCP, now just a grumpy small portion of the community.

Making sure that the POS is actually engaging attackers -by configurating it properly- is something to consider first !

Just saying... from a good surprise two days ago ^_^


POSes definitely needs a complete rewamp.
