Accuracy at less than 4km is terrible

How do i improve accuracy at less than 4 km. I'm using blasters with an optimal range of 5km, and falloff of 10 km. Why can't I hit anything, is it tracking speed? the tracking speed is 0.05

Yes. Either manage your transversal (you're not trying to orbit, are you?) or slap on tracking mods. Or just wait until the winter expansion and see tracking automagically go up.

Add 'angular velocity' to your active overview. Your weapon's tracking speed has to be higher than your target's angular velocity in order to consistently hit it. Targets with a lower orbiting range will have a higher angular velocity compared to ships with a long orbit (barring a massive disparity in your target's speed), which is counter-intuitive for short range turrets.

Hybrids are getting buffed though, so we'll see how much it improves their performance.

Forums eating my posts...

The short and skinny on blasters in PvE from my experience is:
1) tracking mods, seriously. My usual fit has 1-2 TE's and a scripted TC in my Proteus.
2) web(s), don't undock blaster boats without at least one. Even medium blasters won't hit for **** in many situations unwebbed.
3) MWD and use approach/keep at range if orbit is getting making you miss. Don't bump things, time MWD shut off properly.
4) Manipulate transversal to be as low as possible by approach or move away (NPC orbit turns into a sharp chase).
5) Blaster dmg is such that you can usually insta-pop frigates who are deep in falloff anyhow, so just shoot 'em down (I hit frigs regularly up to 15km out with my Proteus)

My priority in fitting blaster PvE ships is: cap stable tank [you'll be shot by everybody and in the worst possible position to escape] > make sure guns can hit (webs/TE/TC) > mag stabs > wtf else you need that you got room for (nothing).

I may end up recording some PvE showing how to get decent applied DPS in L4s with blasters... its a lot more fun then sitting back at 60km hitting f1 every now and then.

Excuse me, but what the f*ck are you desu?

Agreed. I used to use a blaster hyperion for Angel Exstravaganza. Lots more fun than droneboats.

Very good interactive guide to gunnery in general, and an excellent explanation to tracking IMO.
