A noob WH question

Well, I'm not really a noob but I'm new to WH exploration.

I have both my characters in a C2, it's pretty quiet and seems a decent system. There's no active corp in here so I made the decision to get a POS set up in here.

I scanned down an N110 exit and went through, bookmarked the other end (but didn't really pay attention to see if the WH was there) and went to the local trade hub. I picked up what I needed and went back to the bookmark but the WH had gone. I still have my other character on the other side, so my question is - if I scan down another N110 WH exit from within the WH, will this create another K162 WH in high sec somewhere? Or is it just one way? Could I use the character on the inside to go through an N110 WH and then bring both characters back through the K162 WH?

I did search around on some guides, but it only really tells you what the wormhole codes are, not how they are formed or how I get back into the system!

every wormhole has a life span. Do some research into the subject to see how you can tell if a wormhole is about to die or not.

... But yes, scan down your "static" and see where it leads so you can provide a way in for your other character.

As you are probably aware, every wormhole has at least one static connection, meaning that it always has at least one possible outgoing connection that will connect to the same type of destination. That destination could be highsec, nullsec, a class 1 wormhole, a class 6 wormhole, you get the idea.

Class 2 wormholes are a special case, and always have two static connections, that when spawned will lead to the same type of space.

You can look up your system on the List of All W-Space Systems to see what type of connections will always be present.

If you locate and warp to a new N110 wormhole, a new K162 wormhole will be spawned somewhere in high security space. You can then take a character out and make bookmarks that can be shared with the character that is currently stuck in high sec.

Always double check the status of the connection you are about to jump through. Select the wormhole on your overview, and hit the "Show Info" button. This will give you some useful information on what kind of space it leads to, how much time (very roughly) is remaining before the wormhole dies naturally, and how much more mass (again very roughly) the wormhole can transit before collapsing.

Thanks - you've answered my question.

I did think that going through an N110 into high sec would create a K162 Wh in high-sec, I think I was just unfortunate to catch it at the end of it's lifecycle.

Much love - x x

Ditto what Nix said.

It does sound like you jumped through the wormhole without checking the state, and got stuck out. I've had that once when i dared to go into a system, and it shut behind me.

To be honest, if a wormhole is 'wobbling' alot more than you would expect, then its either Reaching its End(Time), or Critical Mass(due to almost 2b m3 of ships in your case). If i'm honest, you're lucky it wasn't a wormhole to J-System, as you would of had to scan out, and then back in, and that CAN take a while.

It is easy to learn the hard way. Now you know to check it out before jumping.

Also, what did you bookmark when you got to the other side? The wormhole, or your current position?

And never go into a WH without a probe launcher.

It's not a C2, N110 HS Wormholes only spawn in Class 1 WH space. If you are lucky it was the static and there will be a newly spawned N110 to a different HS. Fill in the J-signature on www.wormnav.com and find out if your static is HS/LS/Null. Time to start scanning :)

As it was a N110, it had to have been his home C1's static exit to HS.

Most likely yes, but there is a small chance it was a wandering C1 to HS , which would also display as a N110

Here's something a little more straight forward than the link provided by Nix. http://www.ellatha.com/eve/wormholelist.asp

All wandering wormholes in C1 space go to other W-space. :)
