so wait. -- correct me if I have this wrong --

Pilot scans down an old shipwreck.

Exit ship & pod to go exploring, leaving ship/pod vulnerable, right?

So I scan down the same wreck, cloak, wait, then kill the guys ship/pod.

What happens to the guy?

Is he stuck in the wreck?

Can he pay me to haul his butt back to a station?

Can I jettison him out the airlock and watch his corpse freeze as his consciousness transports to his new clone?

Can he self-destruct his body if not?

Have we given any consideration to how this will interact on a fundamental level with eve? If we have, then why not mention it?

If they can just magically appear where they want to go, and the pod pilots can't even attempt to interact or interfere --- or bombard the place the other folks are exploring, then what's the point? It's all well and good to have this interact with the market, but please be sure to let it interact with gameplay, and make it make sense with the eve lore, please.

How are we supposed to answer a question about game mechanics that don't exist?

And EVE isn't "Everybody vs. Everybody". I don't get why people say that but it's false and it sounds stupid.

Enjoying the rain today? ;)

I'm guessing they'll wake up in a Medical Lab. But you are pointing at one of the large flaws in the current plans for WiS; that disconnect created between the immortal clone-in-goop captain of an interstellar ship and the monkey with a stick that goes exploring a dark orifice.

"Self-destruct his body", good one. Some people call it "suicide".

Make it idiot-proof and someone will make a better idiot.

There's supersoldier superimplants for superimmortal out of capsule superclonses. Buy one for Yourself, cloak up Your ship, transfer consciousness to exploration clone, explore & explode ... profit.

At least that's how I imagine it would be doable, but then I've been told that my imagination tends to run wild at times.

Stupidity should be a bannable offense.

Although little is known, even if the the avatar project is still alive.

There should be rather easy ways to work arround this.

The leaving the ship part could be as easy as sending out a drone, that is connected to the Pod.

if ship gets aproached or hit pilot can disconect the drone and get back to ship view, fight of or flee, in wich case the comquret can finish the plex and collect an extra exploration drone while he's at it.

A fuel activated stasis cloak might be an solution as well, would hard cloak your ship (might need to be ankered to something and or totaly shut down [no visiual, or other info from the system] that can't be deactivated by aproach) so while out of your ship you force assialants to engage you out o the ship.

just to think about a solution or two . Not saying that is the case.

Most problems can be solved quite easy as long as you're willing.

New Exploration ship that drops you off and then goes a short distance away and cloaks, awaiting the recall order via remote iink. It could even be a new class of shuttle.

Call InterBus to send an automated Taxi to come pick you up. Smile

Suicide out of your already radiation riddled exploration clone to a jump clone.

The possibilities are vast.

well i would hope that new mechanics would allow one to eject from a cloaked ship, and have that ship remained cloaked while unpiloted.
have another guy drop off a shuttle for him?

Since we're talking about a non-exsiting feauture, it's just as brainstorm/free ideas, then:

- Exploration ship has a new module allowing to keep the systems active for a limited amount of time. Means it allows you to eject in your pod and leave the ship cloacked next to wreck you're exploring.

- This module has a limited duration. When the cycle is over the ship decloack and become a normal ababndoned ship, can be boarded or destoryed. So this module durationa lso give a time framework to complete the exploration.

- if your ship is stole or destoryed you have to come back in pod, if you can

- if you're killed inside the wreck is equivalent to get podded (respawn in the medical station)

- if your pod is destoryed when you're outside it exploring well, I supose the exploration suit will need a "self-destruct" option :) (respawn in your medical station).

or if you get stucked inside the wreck7structure with no pod to come back you can still wait for some other explorer to arrive and ambush him to steal his pod.

One could also settle communities living inside abbandoned structures with the sole purpose to ambush explorer

CCP looked at options for "wreck diving". They were: You go in. Your clone goes in. A crew member goes in. For the last two cases you are still in your ship, so if it gets attacked you deal with it as you always do. In the first case, yes your ship could be lost or stolen. In high sec such an attempt would be blocked or call CONCORD (unless there is a war). In low, null, or W you better have friends who stay in space to guard you. If your ship is lost your options are have a friend deliver a new one, or suicide out.

I actually think the "you go in" option would be best. If you do not want the risk, wreck dive in high sec and accept the smaller rewards.

You remote control a drone clone that requires you to activate a module on your ship that if attacked will deactivate killing the drone clone.

that's pretty cool, and would still leave your ship without a (conscious) pilot :)
