PAIN: "It seems that another character owned by this account..."

Dear CCP,
usability is not one of Eve's strength, and now I've just stumbled across a very hideous abomination:

"It seems that another character owned by this account, XXX, is training the skill YYY. Only one character can train a skill per account. To rectify this, exit the game, log on to XXX, and stop training the skill."

Please fix this. Or maybe allow handling of character training in Eve Gate.

Sel

EDIT:
It's not about training one character at a time, which is fine, thanks so much for the perceptive posters.

Odyssey: Repacking in POS hangars for modules +1,  but please for other stuff too, especially containers. Make containers openable in POS hangars.

Do what it is told and everything'll be fine. That is : log in with the character you want to {begin|stop} training.

OR

Transfert the char to another account.

only one character per account can skill up at a time. Always has been that way.

An option asking you to stop training for one character that currently isn't logged in and start training with the current character is what was asked for, which incidentally would be a tremendous convenience.

Indeed. The entire circus can be avoided. Make training a skill on your current char override and turn off any actively trained skills on other chars sharing the account. Logging off and on and off and on to each character shouldn't be necessary, and is a pain in the butt.

Hmmm.

I would suggest using EvE Mon. If you can't keep tracking of your chars that are training.

No, I'm sorry! But, this would absolutely break the fabric of CCP's time sinks.

What's so hard about: Log off, close the game, load the game, log on, select character, pause training, log off, close the game, load the game, log on, select character, add skill to queue, no wait you only paused the training which is technically stopping so, log off, close the game, load the game, log on, select character, remove skills from the queue, log off, close the game, load the game, log on, select character, add skill to queue, ah crap you didn't hit the apply button, log off, close the game, load the game, log on, select character, remove skills from the queue, click apply, log off, close the game, load the game, log on, select character, add skills to the queue, no wait are you sure you're not supposed to be docked before you can do this? Ok! Now, log off, close the game, load the game, log on, select character, dock, log off, close the game, load the game, log on, select character, add skill to queue. Done. No wait, you didn't click apply again, add skill to queue, click apply, Done.

WTH is you people's problem? There's no inconvenience here.

It's a rather clunky way of going about it. It would be nicer if it was possible to halt training on one character from a different character on the same account and begin training rather than logging off, logging into the training character, halting training, logging off and logging into the character you wish to train.

I'm sure there's some sort of logic to this inconvenient procedure, but I'm not sure what it is.

Yes please to this feature suggestion!

You might want to throw up a warning in this case: "Warning, you are about to make a change that affects the training of another charcter on this account. Do you wish to proceed?"

I've always found it really frustrating to have to log in the affected character to stop training to switch training to another character on the same acocunt.

CCP, make this happen please.

I'm pretty sure it's a case of it being simpler to keep the two characters completely separate when creating the code.

I agree that this would be a handy (if low priority) feature, one that should probably be considered when EVE Gate gets its next facelift... since I think it has been hinted that training que's may eventually be handled through it (or a mobile device).

I'll admit it, I use EVE Gate a LOT more now that the new forums are up and running. Checking your notifications through it on your way to the forums is very, very handy.

^^ This I support. Elegant, simple, and functional: if you start training with one character, the queue for the other character gets paused (with a warning maybe that the other queue gets paused).

N.B. While we're at it, the entire system of having to log off/on, in order to switch characters, on the same account, has been questioned many times before. On the same account, switching characters should be as easy as clicking the desired portrait.

Or even just let us log out of the character and return to the character select screen without closing the client.

This is why my partner rolls her eyes and scans the channels for a movie when I say; "I'm just logging in to up date skill queues".
