I am new to this game and have been looking up youtube videos to learn about some new aspects of the game. I have found some very helpful videos from places like EVE University and some of the 0.0 space corps, some funny parodies Russians mmade, and basically a bunch of other crap. One thing I am very interested in is PvP and flying in big, coordinated fleets with other EVE players. It looks really cool and I've never done anything of the sort.

However, I came across some videos that really weird me out about EVE fleets. For example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L-kGGW0UlPA What the hell is wrong with the FC? Is this common? Looking up rage videos, it seems like it's very normal to berate fleetmates and put everyone down - that doesn't sound like fun at all. Can someone give me some direction to go in to avoid douchebags like that?

Shampoo is a pretty good FC. His eyebrows are better.

Dude, FCs are under pressure. Sometimes they lead 250 ppl. If only one does a really stupid thing, it's quite human to freak out sometimes. But it is not the usual behavior and ofc nothing personal.

Never take it personal. They are under a lot of pressure. I've FC'd a bit..... I was listening to 5 Mumble Channels, had eyes on 5 Jabber chats, and various chats ingame, and we had already spent a few hours carefully planning the OP. We are only human(So i've been told) and we freak out sometimes. That we sometimes have to herd around 100+ autistic nerds doesn't make it better.

Shadoo(The one that rages in that video) is a pretty chill guy. The first FC was not bad, but just made a bunch of bad calls, and then went against the senior FC when he wanted to take over. (And Shadoo is by far, one of the top FC's.) Your soul will break when he tells you dissapointed he is in you.

Some FCs are average or just terrible but so fun people fly with them anyway - everyone loves suicidal silly ops.

Just described me - at least I think the folks who fly with me would agree anyway.

Well my last alliance had 2 good fcs who were typically restricted by the high command. Also many many bad fcs. I would say the single most important thing for.a.good.fc is clarity of communication. Then it's tactical awareness and what separates the good from the great is a sense of timing.

I drain ducks of their moisture for sustenance.
