What area of space do you operate in? Caldari, Amarr, Gallente, or Minmatar? I dont ask this to come hunt you down but if you are in Caldari space or wish to travel there I have a Retreiver that you can have if you want to pick it up.

Hello everyone, I'm posting this to warn all of you against the sad Beta Bank. I met him in a chat room, told him I had lost everything I owned recently (a retriever) after working very hard for it, and since he kept on boasting about his ISK pile I asked if I maybe could have spare change for a restart. He did not want to give it to me, which is fine of course he is not obliged to it.

Later however he told me he felt sad about my loss, and said that whatever I had left ; he would double it. I would not have done this if he was alone in the chat, scammers are everywhere I know. But alot of people in the chat supported him, saying he was rich and trustworthy, so I felt he was. He however, was not. He stole everything I had left, everything, and to top it off he had put this bounty on me. Not only did he stole everything I had left, he also made my career impossible due to this bounty.

I hope you people will never trust this person who calls himself Beta Bank or his friends anymore, they're all very sad, and push me forward to quit this game. Ugh

Ps ; It wasn't his chat, it was the "blueprints" chat.

/rage off.

If he wanted to give you money, why would he ask for money from you? That makes no sense whatsoever. Why wasn't this a red flag? Did losing your retriever not already teach you that not everyone is here to hold hands around a campfire and sing kumbaya? Didn't your mother ever tell you not to trust strangers, especially not when they offer you candy? Not to mention you've broken the first rule of Eve; not flying anything you can't afford to lose. You have displayed a profound lack of basic common sense so far, but apparently you don't think you've managed to make yourself look bad enough yet and went on to complain about a system you don't understand. Nobody cares about your bounty. You're not in an expensive ship so the payout is negligible. Even if you were in an expensive ship, your bounty is probably not nearly as high as you think it is.

Your corp are just as stupid as you are and you should thank them for kicking you. They might even be how you got this way.

Joran I never said I was good or something so it's pretty obvious this thread makes me look bad, don't think I dont know. I'm just warning the community here. And as for the first rule of EVE, well, I did not break it since I did not went into any dangerous zones, except for Jita being full of scammers maybe.

And like I said I only trusted him because nearly the whole chat supported him.. I know there are lots of scammers, but didn't know this many random players would join together to punish a noob.

And about the corp part lol, you made me laugh. P

I meant it makes you look like a bad person, not a bad player. Based on the quote I'm not sure I expressed that properly.

Thanks, but we already know.

They were either his alts or his friends. That or they simply noticed you didn't immediately recognize the scam like someone who isn't in a coma would normally be expected to do and thought it would be funny.

Yes you did. Eve is a dangerous area. All of it. The second rule is that you consent to PvP by undocking. There are areas where people will face more punishment for attacking you, but there are none that prevent them from doing so.

Everything in this thread. Trusting complete strangers in a situation you (hopefully) wouldn't in real life, despite said strangers being anonymous and having to face far less consequences than they would in the equivalent real life situation. Lacking basic common sense. Refusing to learn from mistakes. Complaining about systems you don't understand and apparently made no attempt to. Joining a corp full of scrubs that will throw you out for literally nothing because they also don't understand how bounties work and then being upset that you can no longer hang out with the people who just mistreated you. Posting a rage thread over losing some pixels. Etc. I thought I had already covered this.

Edit: I don't give a single **** what happens to my ship. Since I'm making an effort to be more constructive lately I'll tell you why. I have a noctis, a myrmidon and 55 to 60 million in liquid ISK. Both have platinum insurance. If either or even both of them got blown up I could have them replaced, refit and back in space in minutes. I normally only fly ships I can have a whole stack of, but since I'm stuck in high sec for now I might as well enjoy it, right?

You may have noticed I could instead have rushed to a battleship for what these ships costed. I didn't because even in high sec I can still lose it. I can even be killed in PvP, whether by suicide gankers as you likely were or if I was in a player corp someone could declare war. I could be disconnected in the middle of a mission or die in myriad other ways. One of the first things you need to learn if you want to keep playing is that you can't let a single loss reset your income potential to 'newbie in a velator' level.

1.) You were flying something you couldn't afford to loose....mistake 1.

2.) You trusted someone you don't know...mistake 2

3.) You fell for the oldest scam in EVE (send me ISK and I will double)...mistake 3.

4.) You thought that some strangers were reliable intel (could be his friends or even alts)...mistake 4.

5.) Thinking that a bounty actually matters in EVE...mistake 5 ***Bounties don't change any of the aggression right mechanics***

So....who is to blame, not the scammer
