Jota de la Clara (traditional)

This is a traditional song from the Salamanca area, about a girl (Clara) who went to work as a maid and her master made her pregnant, so she had to come back and marry in a hurry, to no avail as they call her a wh*** and nobody wants to talk to her.

This kind of attitude was usual in rural Spain as late as the 1960s.

This song tells the story about a shepherd who sees seven hungry wolves who toss for who's going to take a sheep from the shepherd. An old brown she-wolf losses and albeit she takes a sheep, the shepherd asks his seven dogs to chase her to death. Eventually tired, the wolf drops the sheep and offers it to the dogs for her life, but the dogs refuse and tell the she-wolf what they will do with her remnants.

the original is more chill. kinda needed it after a long day of classes
