It's Velator versus Tie Fighters, plural. Imperial doctrine is to use Ties in overwhelming numbers. Plus, since the Tie has no FTL capability, it has to be shipped or based nearby, thus implying cap ship support (i.e. a carrier) or a planetary base.

OTOH, Imperial warp scrambling requires an interdiction cap ship, so the Velator can leave the field of battle easily. However, the Velator is limited to star gates which can place potentially crippling restrictions on the Velator's strategic mobility.

Anyway, after running the numbers (Velator, TIE), the deciding factor is coolness. The TIE has it. The Velator doesn't. Winner TIE.

The TIEs may come in a group, true. But the Velator is not without its surprise.

Because lurking inside its hull are not one, but two light drones.

One for each TIE fighter.

The real question: "What's the Velator going to do with the rest of its firepower while its drones kill the TIEs?"

Aw, yeah. Shoot the superstructure off that Imperial Star Destroyer.

Note that TIEs deploy from destroyers, lulz.

Velator wins. Hands down.
