if jita is locked why not sell stuff in the systems around it?

Stuff does occasionally get put up for sale in systems like Perimeter and New Caldari. Stuff even actually gets sold there sometimes. Like, once a month.

OK, OK - maybe once a week.

I regretfully moved a few items from Rens to nearby Hek. The stuff sat there for an age.

It's the same at all the hubs and nearby systems.

Remove freighters from the game. And cut the cargo of Orcas of course.

Result: items have to be sold close to where they are built, which is close to where the minerals are mined. Jita and other hubs collapse and are replaced by numerous minor market hubs. Since these are less easily dominated by a few players (and botters), opportunities open up for new players seeking to get into manufacturing and trading. Jita lag is solved as the highsec playerbase spreads out from Jita, supported by growing local markets.

Of course, there may be a few slight problems with moving supplies out to nullsec and the impossibility of null industry on the required scale... LolBlink

What about 'large items' that barely even fit now in an Orca hold ?

Those items would never be able move and would be useless.

Think before posting.

There's plenty of room down in (Do)dixie for all of you locked out of Jita.

Rens and Amarr could use some love too!

Let's simplify: It's the one-stop "I wanna go to the Mall" attitude and people are lazy. Roll

Amarr is just 9 jumps away, you can fit a ship there with the same convenience of jita.

Jita is popular with the traders because of the volume there, but from a fitting POV the other hubs are just as good.

because of the much lower volume in Amarr you will find that the markets for meta 3/4 items are often manipulated.

With the new running averages listed along side all items it is possible to make an informed purchase regardless of local price fluctuations. I dont concern myself too much with anything that is within an acceptable range of that base number.

When I have 200 separate items to sell I don't want to spend time researching each one. I just go sell the lot and take what I can get. Jita usually results in more ISK in this case.

I would laugh so supremely hard if they utterly locked Jita for a week.....then deleted its node utterly.

Just a sudden evaporation.

The game would be well served, tbh.

You realize eventually a nearby system would likely quickly replace it, right?

Not really the point, I'm sure. The point being the massive jolt the economy would take as trillions of ISK in accumulated resources vaporized - the market dislocation would resonate through EVE for months. At least.
The stories would be told for decades.

Sort of like the Star Wars Galaxies NGE?
Quite.

Well, that would certainly put a crimp on the industrialists. Especially nul-sec industrialists.
