So i just had my first death on eve and it feels bad. How do you more excperienced players feel when you die?

Don't fly things you can't afford to replace. Always get platinum insurance. Personally, I tend to think of my ships as already dead as soon as I buy them. I see them more like rental cars.
Only get platinum insurance when you have reason to believe your ship has a greater than 30% chance of being shot down before:
1.) 12 weeks are up
2.) it changes hands
3.) you repackage it
If you buy insurance and don't lose the ship, you lose the insurance. I say 30% chance of being shot down because the actual chance you'll be shot down is always greater than you think it is, and there's also something nice about losing less money when you do lose a ship. But the most financially sound way to buy insurance is to buy it for the 50% most doomed ships you have.

I've learned to rarely buy it, if ever. It's just too difficult to predict a loss. I find a much better solution is to learn to increase my chances of not losing the ship.

I don't remember my first death in EVE. I paid attention to what people told me and flew cheaply. I think it happened in a Navitas, which was a ship I liked very much at the time. But I got over it because I expected it to happen, so it felt like I was a new person. I was a true capsuleer!

FT Diomedes: "Reaver, sometimes I wonder what you are thinking when you sit down to post."

Frostys Virpio: "We have to give it to him that he does put more effort than the vast majority in his idea but damn does it sometime come out of nowhere."

Generally speaking, my ships have a 100% chance of getting blown up in less than 12 weeks unless it's a noctis or something. I'm not going to hide in station for a week if a AFK cloaker shows up so even my PvE ships get killed sometimes, though that's a lot more rare.

Edit: I don't normally live in high sec, but I still think it's a good policy anywhere.

It was an alright time. Had fun.

The very sun of heaven seemed distorted when viewed through the polarising miasma welling out from this sea-soaked perversion, and twisted menace and suspense lurked leeringly in those crazily elusive angles of carven rock where a second glance shewed concavity after the first shewed convexity.

I never been bothered by it then again I am in RvB an alliance where you will die multiple times a day... I have had a few what the hell moments the most recent one was during the last day of the 4th RVB- eve uni war when.
My destroyer got popped the problem was when I got popped I did'nt see anyone locking me and was trying to lock ships in.

My pod for a minute before I realized I was in my pod but found out later on the reason I did'nt see the lock was the ship that popped me was a tornado and I did'nt have it checked so it showed in my overview.

The first time I got podded I was on a courier contract in nullsec, 5 days into the game. A friend of mine set up a 'mission' for me which could have only ended in fancy explosions. I didn't feel much after podding, as I was still evaluating things in my head... puzzling together what had actually happened and why, and how I could take steps trying to prevent it. It was a valuable lesson!

I have little to no emotional reaction to pod death, as I'm flying an empty clone (or one with just a few cheap implants) anyway. It's mostly an inconvenience, setting me back in ISK and time while I have to reship. The first few times I still had this adrenaline rush in PvP (of the enjoyable kind, I might add). After a while this 'rush' subsided into a more relaxed form of enthousiasm and giggles.

GF

Pod Xpress pls.

BoBwins Law: As a discussion/war between two large nullsec entities grows longer, the probability of one comparing the other to BoB aproaches near certainty.

Down again. Kind of expected it.
