Anyone else have trouble with Bamboo Tablets? [now with art work]

I am on my second stylus. Stupid me thinking that it was a problem with the pen that i was having, and not the tablet, bought another one. That's around 30 bucks of buyers remorse.

My issue is that when I hover the Stylus over the tablet, the mouse pointer bounces up and down rapidly. Needless to say it i unusable. I have the latest driver and I have a brand new pen. This tablet worked once, and this problem just started one day out of the blue. Evidently it is not the pen.

Anyone else have a Wacom Bamboo tablet with a problem like this?

I'm on an Intuos 4, upgrade from an Intuos 3...

I dropped the Intuos 3 pen and the pen's upright sensor (to determine if i'm using the pen or the eraser end) malfunctioned and I'd have to fling the pen downward as if I was forcing ink into the tip.

I strongly suggest Intuos.....

are you an artist?

//3 things I would consider:

warranty service with wacom
or
open it up to make sure nothing came loose--some tablets, and i'm not sure if any wacoms are offenders, have their internals taped down (yes, tape)... and it might've come loose
or
upgrade to Intuos.

More of an aspiring artist Big smile

Ill look into the intuos because this is defiantly my last bamboo tablet. People rav about wacom but so far I find their product lacking, their customer service is more or less non existent and they appear to have a history of releasing ****** drivers. Shame really, I really would have liked to pressure sensitivity.

I' will also check for tape. Go figure.

My daughter's Bamboo tablet does the same. Her work-around is to be careful to not move the mouse (trackball, actually). After a few moments the cursor stabilizes and behaves.

Tell someone you love them today, because life is short. But scream it at them in Esperanto, because life is also terrifying and confusing.

This is where I am at presently. All of these images are "tests" so I can develop my technique a bit more.

Barren Planet Test (came out pretty good I think)
Gascloud Test (I am trying t o make ones like in EVE)
Lens Flare Plasma
Nebula Test (I think this needs more dynamic cloud definition)

And

Charon In front of galaxy (rendered in Blender)

My original Charon people here said lacked interesting subject matter, so I painted a galaxy behind it. But I think the new one is still a bit meh. ATM I am planning a Titan being blasted in half by a Jove ship near a planet. That should be better "subject matter" Big smile

Presently I am playing with sculptris attempting to make high quality human faces to render with Blenders Subsurface Scattering. The next blender expansion will be able to make exceptional hair, so I am looking forward to that (instead of an eve expansion heh)

Please feel free to link some of yours.

Are you painting from scratch, using faceshop or something like Daz studio. If you don't mind me asking of course.

usually pencil on paper sketch, since I can do that anywhere and it doesn't require a computer...

then the sketch is scanned, and redone and colored digitally with photoshop and the intuos. I have a habit of warping my perspective in sketches, so when they're scanned, I correct the distortion in photoshop. for example, I would shorten the neck of the first sketch in the following link--it was drawn too long

this is all from 2009-2011. the black haired girl with the captain's jacket is Rain6637 as I was inspired to draw her when I started playing EVE :-3

I zoomed in on chun li's eyes to give an idea what scale I work on my drawings.

I haven't made any significant progress or had much practice in the last couple years. but that should change soon. I'm back in school, and have time on my hands...

I really need more practice.

but I'm a dilettante

Your anime has great structure. The pic with the captains jacked is exceptional. Hopefully I'll get there eventually.

thanks broski. i tried to get that one done without using outlines. was somewhat successful, though I feel it was mostly useful in showing me how much work i need. hah.

hey so... about color: this book taught me 90% of what I know of color. the rest of what I know is how it relates to computer monitors and RGB rather than irl color which is RYB.

Color. A course in mastering the art of mixing colors, 2004, Penguin Putnam. by Betty Edwards.
she's the author of the famous book "drawing on the right side of the brain" which I think is gimmicky

if you look, you can find it electronically, like I did. will really open your eyes to how complicated color can be, and how much we take for granted. but if you learn how color works, it's simple and very effective

//while typing this and discovering it's $13 USD and available nearby, I've reserved it and am about to pick one up tonight.

it's one of those books that is worth it. also, viewing colors through a computer monitor is not an accurate representation of color (you'll know what i mean when you read the book)
