Graphics Option - Turn Down System Background Brightness

The eye-blasting brightness of system backgrounds has been a problem since the revamp of backgrounds a few years ago and had a post on the old forums. I'm reposting here for obvious reasons.

In many systems the background nebulae are so bright they overpower the HUD unless you can turn your camera to an angle that lets you actually see your modules. Now that CCP is focusing on Eve again is there any way we can get a simple option of turning down their brightness? Don't get me wrong, I love the nebulae but some of them just need to be reduced in brightness a bit so that they don't make seeing your HUD so difficult. A slider in the Graphics section of the ESC menu would be awesome.

Thanks and have a nice day!

There is an old military tactic called "fight with the sun to your backs" to light your way and blind your foe.

is that too hard? can you not be arsed to strategically position yourself for greatest visual advantage in battle?

and if your talking about missioning, those shouldnt be a threat anyways.

and you should memorize hotkeys for your modules, i mean really, it takes all of 5 minutes and is actually quicker then having to mouse over them every time you want to activate/deactivate

I agree, it's far too bright at times.

You do know that anyone can zoom and rotate their camera so it would be impossible for me to "strategically position" myself anywhere in relation to the background nebula of a system. Not sure if I (or even you) really understand what you are talking about.

What I meant was that the bright backgrounds are annoying and a slider or some other option to reduce their brightness would be a welcome feature. I use hotkeys almost exclusively but I didn't say anything about hotkeys so not sure where that came from either... Are you sure you are replying to the right post?

Hi there Par. How are things?

But yes, you beat me to it, I was gonna post this myself but completely forgot. Then I was gonna post an image of the pip boy from the fallout series with his empty eyesockets smoking, but I couldn't find it. I really suck. Damn.

But the idea does not suck. The idea is really good!

What? Seriously? Are we the only ones bothered about this? It's like I need to wear shades while playing eve. I guess that adds immersion for some Lol

The lighting does frustrate me some. But it's not the ambient or stellar light that's annoying, it's those stupid gas clouds. They both make it hard to see and hit my FPS pretty hard.

bump for more granular and user-customizable settings

+1 on system background brightness option.
As it is, Caldari nebula is so bright its hard to see the letters, tone it down for gods sake. Other nebulas are nice to look at, Caldari one is just a pale blue cloud of no details.

Well I was hoping this would be better after the nebula were all changed in the last patch but it has actually made it worse in some systems.

Devs: What do we have to do to get a brightness adjustment slider for system backgrounds? Seriously. Tell me what to do and I will do it!
