well it seems we are on opposite ends of the atlantic with the same issue.

I've been wanting this for the longest time, to complete the lightweight theme for my bicycle, but they won't sell to Americans... understandably so, because it's a carbon fiber fork and Americans are litigious.

about the same price as an Oculus~

So how do you see the keyboard to make commands or type in local?????

A good idea but not practical for a game like EVE.

I think it's more suited to console/PC controller games.

Using hot keys from a KB is gonna be tough.

It's a crazy world we live in, full of a species of animals that can do amazing things.

Like use a keyboard without looking at it.

You know, the buttons on your keyboard never move, and most keyboard manufacturers put this incredible peice of technology on two keys, called a bump, so that you can figure out where your keys are without looking at it.

Even more amazing, once you figure out how to use a keyboard without staring at it like a down baby, it's actually EASIER to use it.

I experienced it in the 80's. It was **** then, and prettier graphics isn't going to make it any less ****.

In fact, it was one of those rare occasion where nintendo actually made something that most people didn't want to buy.

Edit: It's probably not a coinsidence that it took 20 years for someone else to try it.
And ARMA has support for a devise that does all the same stuff without having to strap a peice of ******* hardware to your face.

The combat flight sim demographic get pretty stoked about things like this. But that's even more niche than internet spaceships.

Still, as a cfs junkie, I follow developments in the field pretty closely.

All of that reminds me of the Virtual Boy... and as an owner of a Virtual Boy, it fills me with a fair bit of dread.

Also, it reminds me of the .Hack series, which started off awesome, but has been getting a bit squidggedly as of late.

I vote no unless the experience is so immersive that we can get Mindlock.

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

anything that furthers CCP's experience and interest in this technology is enough for me.

I would prefer TrackIR instead of the 3D crap.

I was really excited for maybe the past 20 minutes about CCP BunnyVirus' post mentioning atmospheric flight, in this thread about the Oculus Rift...

but now I realize... it's much more likely CCP BunnyVirus is simply using a what-if for the sake of argument (than it was CCP BunnyVirus leaking a huge development project in GD)_

I've got one more round of "for sure" resubs in me at this point. don't get me wrong, i'm trying to keep myself interested, too. gonna see if the oculus helps anything. would be great if there was a higher resolution version

but there's also the chance I will consolidate characters and put them in a carbon freeze

ok fair point. but how hard would it be for a company whose product is a bundle of code, to make their game support a piece of tech

how much money have you paid CCP since you started playing? I have a feeling it's enough that you could expect something more.

about the development cost and scope of new features: I think WiS might be more than they could chew, so it's not the same scale as a return of 3D support and a scaled interface

now... one reason a visor wouldn't be in CCP's best interest for EVE is it would lock the user's eyeballs to one client, and that's not the direction this game has been travelling lately.

Great news that CCP is receiving some kits. Oculus Rift looks like it's gonna be a game changer in video games, with low latency, fast refreshing screens and 110 degrees field of view. Would love to be able to look around in any direction and feel fully immersed in space while I'm playing Eve.

whatever I can get working, EVE, DUST or other, I'm bringing with me to EVE Vegas this year, to show other capsuleers.

XBOX, PS3, my frankenPC, couple of monitors and the Oculus... fairly mobile.
