For obvious reasons i will candidate myself.

You can vote on me to abstain.

At least that way your vote to abstain from voting will be counted :)

Abstaining votes was counted during the CSM6 and 7 elections. I am under the impression that hasn't changed, so abstaining votes will be counted without this "initiative".
Same with "none of the above" or other similar initiatives.

This is EVE, after all. They're probably scamming you. Cool

You are probably right.

The only end-game content in EVE Online is the crap that makes you rage quit.

You are probably right.

With the scamming part or with the counting part?
I'm a political activist so I can perfectly understand discontent, and making statements like that is a way to show it.

IIRC you didn't run either, so you didn't get the chance to "show your colours", which to me would point towards a statement rather than attempts of deceit.

In the end, I have no way of judging motives, only end results, which is why I posted the serious part as well as the more generic "it's EVE; you're getting scammed" bit.

I didn't quote the scamming part, so that is a hint that it wasn't what I responding to.

In seriousness, abstentions are counted.

Although true "None of the Above" votes are not. Which is something of a shame.

I flirted with the idea of running last year, as a protest vote. But decided not to push it. Had a candidacy thread which was more of a press like to recruit me if you think "None ofthe Above" vote is needed on the ballot. Happily it wasn't. I ended up voting primarily for Hans with one vote for Trebor. As they appear to have been the work horses of CSM 7, pretty happy with that, even if I have mixed feelings about the results of CSM 7 as a whole.

Have no intention of running this year.

"I abstain" is funny, like my "None ofthe Above" and the other guy from last year "Disband the CSM". But I do hope CSM is more serious business and gimmick candidates do not make it on the official ballot.

I believe it makes sense to vote for I Abstain rather than to use the ´i abstain´ option.

When I Abstain in character would get massive votes you actually "abstain" a member of the CSM council itself.

I like that! Lol

Pretty interesting link. Where I live, local or general elections with lower participation than 85% are commonly viewed as a democratic issue, and a high amount of abstaining votes are likewise seen as a problem (As in, they turned up and in essence said "no party deserves my vote"), but unless it's a referendum in accordance with our constitution voter participation isn't a legal matter.
So it's interesting when I see examples where it actually is a legal matter as well.

Either way, I think I explained my case well enough in post #3 here, so I'll go back to stalking.

I think CCP created the application sorting prior to the Pre-Election just for this guy.

Yeah I'm pretty sure CCP has to approve your candidacy for the pre-election. I am similarly certain that they will not approve you.
