Hello everyone,

I've just come back after a year or two of inactivity, and have found that I need to find a different way to play this game. I use to solo level 4's with my drone boat Domi and five ogre II. This is NOT a QQ thread about the new AI, I think its fine that they have updated the AI to be more realistic. However, I have a few questions:

1. What is the next easiest Gallente ship and weapons could I train up to to solo level 4's (if possible)?
2. I've heard that clearing rats in null sec with drone boats is still possible, as they are BS and BC, and they don't target drones as much. Is this true?
3. Is there some secret to drone boating that I could use to solo level 4's(Hey, one can always hope)?

1. The next easiest Gallente ship for missions is a Tengu. Don't believe me? Compare the SP reqs for Hybrids/blasters compared to HMLs. When you consider you'll spend less than 1/2 the sp training for missile to acquire the same performance minus all the drawbacks for guns (tracking, range, dps) you'll find that missiles make a lot more sense for pve.

2. Dunno, don't fly null

3. Solo drone boating for pve is all but dead. Fly something else.

Yes. Use a MJD. Snipe with sentries. Repeat. If anything, L4s are easier for a Domi now. Especially if you take the time to train up large hybrids.

Try fitting an ECM or two, and use them. The AI seems to choose my boat over my drones while I have the ECM running on the NPC's, even if it isn't contributing too much.

Do not follow the ECM Burst advise when you run missions in high-sec. Others will come and sneak into your mission to get you CONCORDed.

Drones:
You could use sentry drones. Since they stay next to your ship, they can be scooped or remote repaired easily.

Gallente in general:
For missions in high sec I would use a Kronos. Awesome damage, tank and cargo hold + tractor beam range bonus and unused high slots.*

(*Marauders have less weapon mounts but doubled damage.)

These things are PVE monsters by design.

She didn't advise ECM burst, but targeted ECM. That's a big difference, unless you are stupid and try to ECM a player in hi-sec. But Retribution even added a filter for stupid in the form of a safety button.

Use sentries and you're fine with the domi.

With the increase in shiptoasting, the Report timer needs to be shortened.

Thanks guys, I'll look into all of it. I like the idea of ECM, that will be easy to test. I also didn't even think about sentries. I'll fire up EFT and see what I need for a Kronos. I'm glad there are so many options, I have expected "u r screwed, train missiles", guess that's what makes this game great.

drone frigates: worm. up to 50m3 drone bay = 5 mediums or 10 lights

I've been able to rock LVL4s with harpys, with the exception of webbing NPCs on missions such as worlds collide.

I've been meaning to attempt the merlin thing again, with a worm. and use its drones to take care of webbing frigs and cruisers.

Hm yes... L4 missions... I really need to try that out again.

Wonder if my dual NH combo special still is as effective as ever!

YOU, have never thought about rails mega?

Navy version is quite imba and has a huge drone bay to deal with every single situation you might find.
Shield Navy Domi might be actually what you're looking for, huge tank, tons of dps with rails and drones, everything to please.

You're still using drones? Buy a Drake or Hurricane you noo... oh wait. HA HA HA sorry had to laugh at the Drake whiners for a second.

This is still the first time I've ever heard anyone saying at Domi + Sentries wasn't the perfect AFK kit. Oh wait... you were using heavies? Oh sorry, my apologies. CCP forgot to remove heavy drones from the game last patch. They're not really an item anymore, though. They're just kind of like souvenirs now, mementos of a happier time when drones were still a viable weapon choice.
