Looking for advice on a long term goal.

Hey all, it's me again. Big smile

I need a bit of advice. I'm looking for a general consensus on what I should aim for in the long run.

I can fly the ships from all four races relatively equally up to T1 BSes, but now I have come to the point where I really need to buckle down and focus my training on some good T2 ships/guns.

What race generally has the best overall lineup of T2 ships? I know with the incoming hybrid buff the choices may change somewhat so this is something in the back of my mind.

As a bit of background on my toon and current plans: I am about 10 months old and have roughly 16.5m sp with my gunnery skills only slightly higher then those of my missile skills, though that can be attributed to having all 3 sets of turrets trained up about equally. I'm primarily a mission runner, although I aim to get into the pvp stuff soon (been really putting it off for too long). I also currently mission in Amarr space if this is of any use.

Right now I *think* I wanna aim for a Sleipner, and train up for the other Minmatar t2 stuff along the way while I am practicing my pvp skills in rifters, but I am quite open to suggestions because I have been eyeing the Amarr T2 lineup with almost as much interest as well.

TL:DR: Best T2 racial ships for general versatility in PVE and small gang PVP.

Thanks in advance.

As of right now, minmatar is pretty strong across the board, in some cases to the point of being a tad overpowered. Their T2 ships have a pretty good omni tank, they can change primary damage types, they have a cap-less gun system that, for autocannons at least, is made nearly immune to the short-range ammo's optimal penalty by tracking enhancers, artillery has a ridiculously high alpha, their guns have the best tracking, their ships typically have the best kiting ability and a generally decent tank to go along with it, and to top it off all three of the angel pirate ships are FOTM, able to take on just about anything with a similar hull size. (with the exception maybe, of cynabal vs T3)

Hell, the Hurricane is probably among the most versatile ships in all of eve. It can be fit to for kiting, heavy tank, short range brawl, alpha snipe, active or passive/buffer tank, armor or shield tank, and all of them well enough to be effective.

For versatility, go minmatar or go home. They've got a boat for just about every occasion. I've seen their t3's in many different roles so I assume it follows the pattern. (never flown a loki can't comment)

Gallente has the Ishtar- perhaps the most versatile single hull in the entire game. The rest of their t2 lineup is pretty sad though. Arazu is only other remarkable ship I can think of atm.

Caldari has the tengu. yay. Oh, and the falcon.

Amarr has a strong cruiser lineup, with the excellent zealot, pilgrim and curse. Devoter can tank like a boss. Legion is a surprisingly good brawler with HAMs and bonused neuts, but not a solo boat. None of these are as versatile as minmatar ships though.

Go projectiles and Minmatar.

In all honesty, all four races are perfectly viable choices, there are very few things in Eve that are flat out wrong. Gallente is probably the least viable right now, but they still do have a couple good ships (personally my primary ship is the Ishkur right now).

If you are interested in the Sleipnir and want to fly it, go for it. Min ships are extremely viable right now.

Also, don't forget the T2 frigs too, some of them are extremely fun and they're not too expensive either.

My long term goal, back in the day, was to train up for every races command ships. Still working on that on and off. Smile

I'd wait for the hybrid changes that are coming out in the winter expansion. Depending on how strong they become, Gallente could potentially become a very strong pick, as a Brutix would finally be the king of close range brawling.

Definitely projectiles/minmatar if you want versatility. After that, cross-train Amarr to apply your gunnery skills to lasers.

Drone skills are kind of a big deal, too. Don't neglect those.

Dude...the Taranis and Ares are both awesome. Not many ships can actually hull tank and win.

I would agree with what seems to be the prevailing opinion here - go Minmatar. I can fly up through a BS of every race, as well as the Tengu and the Loki, etc. I strongly prefer flying Minmatar ships (aside from sometimes I like the Tengu over the Loki) than anything else, and frankly, I kinda want my SP back from training the other races, lol.

I think in the long term you should aim for 2 kids and a loving spouse, but some people like to have more kids - like the Brady bunch. When the kids go off to college you're looking at a divorce and maybe a younger lover.

Is the divorce strictly necessary before acquiring the younger lover? I think it'd be really cool to have both.

If your PvP centric, then ignore one specific race and go for all with the best class ship that is the cruiser imo. HAC, HIC, Recon and Logistics. Cannot ignore the T3’s this would open as well as adding BC V for all the CS. BS’s have a place, but this gives far more options and quicker training for the lower level weapon systems

If you want a race, Amarr have strong ships at this class (Zealot, Devoter, Curse, Guardian) as well as at BC/CS level (Harbinger/Absolution) Minmatar also has some good choices with the Vagabond, Broadsword and Loki at cruiser level as well as the Hurricane and Sleipnir. The other two races have some good ships, but these give the better choices quicker in your long-term plan. And then there’s the faction cruisers

Personally i would make sure i had up to T2 medium (incert weapon) before i specialized. They will be needed for any ships you go into and increase your effectiveness in the ships you already have (by a large amount). I myself also made sure i could fit a T2 tank (shield and armour) as well as a decent array of EWAR (T2 points, webs at the least) and prop mods (T2 AB and MWD's).
