Varied Salvaging Sucess In W-Space

Hi all,

Been living in W-space for about 6 months now, in a Class 1, Class 2 and now a Class 3. Just wondering if anyone has any info regarding the salvaging results. In the last few weeks we've seen a drop in the amount of nanoribbons that we salvage from anomalies and radar sites. We use a Noctis for salvaging, and the 2 people who do the salvaging have lv4 salvaging. One even has salvaging implants but the most we ever get from a site is about 3-4 ribbons. Recently we have seen a drop in the corp member activity, so I've been running a few anomalies on my own, dual boxing 2 toons. The salvage has gone up dramactically and I'm now getting double the amount of ribbons per site. Yet when my corpmate logs in to help run them quicker, the salvage result is back to 3-4.
So what I'm asking really is, does the amount of people running each site have a direct result on the salvage?

Cheers :)

sleeper salvage is influenced by random variation. that means it is not the same everytime. that means sometimes it seems like you're getting less. curiously, altho it also means that sometimes you get more, no-one ever complains about that.

many people prefer to try and interpret all sorts of trends and patterns into those changes over time .... most often that either "it'sbroken" or that CCP has nerfed it someways.

I guess I am almost a 'vet' by now. Hopefully not too bitter and managing to help more than I hinder. I build and sell many things, including large collections of bookmarks.

As far as we (the players) know, salvage is completely random, and what salvage is in a wreck is determined at creation and is not affected by amount of people, time taken, salvaging character's skills, or anything else that you as a player can control. Only thing you can do is make as many wrecks to salvage as you can :P

Its random..the Isk's in the Blue loot more than the salvage.

The topic is like expo drops and always comes up all the time, The jita prices havent really changed much outside normal manipulation to indicate a drop over time in supply.

None of all the answers seem to understand OP wants to know if his mates are putting ribbons in their pockets.

With level 4 salvaging I am assuming t1 salvage tackle the base chance to salvage a ship is 50%, 55% with the implant, small ships have a access difficulty of 30 medium 20 large 10, sleepers have a -20 to the respective size ship. So with the above salvagers the chance of salvaging a large sleeper wreck is down to 40%, or 45% with the implant. By training to t2 salvagers you increase the chance of salvaging a large speeper wreck by 10%. As far as salvaged item go though there is no way to tell what will be salvaged.

If you don't follow the rules, neither will I.

That is all very nice, but keep in mind that those percentages just makes salvaging faster - it does not provide 'better' loot.

[edit]Which is what you wanted to say i guess, i just wanted to point it out again, because there seems to be the assumption floating around that 'access difficulty' translates to better salvage ... [/edit]

What? I thought the faster you try and salvage nanoribbons, the less chance they have of getting damaged and turning into metal scraps...

From what I can tell the ship has a random flag that says if it has salvage, another to set the access difficulty, fail this one and you get 2 things that can happen, you fail to salvage this wreck, or the salvager find nothing this cycle and try again. What is salvaged seems to be a random salvage item chosen once the salvage successfully completes a cycle.

If you don't follow the rules, neither will I.

Incorrect. Salvage is decided on when the wreck is created (as in, the moment that the rat dies). It doesn't matter if you get the salvage on the first try or after an hour and a half of cycling, you will get the same items. I'm 99% sure this is straight from a dev, but I don't feel like trying to find a quote right now.

I remember this as well.

The only thing your salvager/skills/rigs decide is how long its going to take you to find what is in there.

It's pseudo-random.
