Rat AI aggros on ewar. Point counts as ewar.

Problem: You have a point fitted, your dangerous opponent doesn't, therefore, rats aggro you.

Solution: Don't fit a point. Your dangerous opponent isn't, why are you?Lol

If both of you have points, rats aggro the guy who's been there shooting them longer.
If both of you have no points, rats aggro the guy who's been there shooting them longer.
If you have point and your dangerous opponent don't, he can't kill you.

You can't lose.Big smile

Oh wait, you were just looking for risk-free pvp. I have a better idea, why don't CCP just give you free km?Pirate

sorry but this is not totally true.

while rat will traget an ewar equipped ship as primary, they ALSO primary the last ship ariving in the pocket.

tried it a lot now since the update, by running missions with a few corpmates.

none of us has ewar fitted, and 100% of the case, a new ship warping in WILL take full aggro for a minute or so, regardless of the threat it poses, the tank it has etc....

i mean, it is insta aggro, from 200+ km even from npc frigs.....

I would seriously consider not trying to take advantage of the existing conflict.

It is enough to wait until the fight is over.
These rats are noone's allies, they are not trying to be fair or follow any fershluggineer etiquette delusions.

They want to kill everything. This means BOTH you and the first guy.
They want the best chance for all dead, and not just one guy and the other surviving to leave. I bet they guessed you would probably live if the first guy gets killed, which they don't want.

They are just fine dying in the process.

Wanna understand them? Then think like them.
They figure the first player will attack you, and you will attack whoever. As you are the least damaged, bringing you down takes a priority over the first guy, who they figure they can clean up afterwards. (Better chance at least, and if you damage him even more they are just fine with that)

They would rather fail trying to kill everyone than succeed against just one side, and get called player lovers.
(Hey player lover, why don'cha just join their corp, you been helping em anyways.... rude noises)

Wall of text bitching at its best.

NPC AI is totally broken.
Lots of so called "know it alls" in this thread think they no stuff by comparing the AI changes to Sleeper AI which works slightly differently.

If you don't know facts then stop posting ..dumb ****.

Lots of LOL'ing from care bears lapping up this ****... it is amusing, amusing to see the cards turned for sure.

It doesn't mean NPC AI isnt broken though.

Maybe I should just join the ranks of the care bear communty and now rat in a much safer environment.
I would but my god, it's boring as ****.

I certainly find it very hard to find any enjoyment from the game now.
Perhaps time to return to war dec'ing in empire.

If your having problems killing any PvE fit you should be ashamed of yourself. Even with the NPCs against you.

I loved the fact you cared to post, I love the fact that I angered you even enough to post and quote.
You turned me on for a second, almost the same feeling I get when I solo blow noobs out of their badly fitted PVE boats.

Back on topic, The AI debate will continue as both sides feel they have a warranted argument.
It will loose a small player base because of the changes, others will try to adapt, the main adaption will be to bring more friends.
Seeing solo players trying to do the stunts they used to will almost dry up and the way of PVP will lean even more into the blob.

Its a shame because it was fun and a lot of people (although still a minority) enjoyed this style of gameplay.

You Sir! I challenge thee to a duel!
Just give me some time to catch up with the ship rebalances and to pull enough intel on what you normally fly and how you normally fit so I can counter you.

Challenge accepted! Although currently the duel mechanics don't mean much to me seeing as I can't enter highsec.... My security status is horrible. I am grinding it up though. In a couple of days I may actually be able to enter highsec for the first time in AGES!

Actually I don't belt rat. It's about the most boring thing in the world I could imagine. As I said, your misspelling the word didn't invalidate your argument. Calling me a n00b doesn't invalidate anyone else's either -- nor trying to weaken me by feminizing me.

Look, the ratter doesn't have any idea of your fit. When you scan them down, you can scan down what they're fighting. If you, having way more intelligence than your target, can't take down your target in a ship not prepped for PvP, well... there's a word for that.

Solo or blob, neither is the best possible world for game play.

Solo: Seriously? This is an MMO, and while it should certainly be possible, by no means should this ever be preferred over group efforts. Players should always find the greatest rewards working together, and solo should always be something they could settle for as needed.

Blob: There is a point of diminishing returns, for many things in the universe. Using overwhelming odds should be one of them.
There should be a more obvious mechanic where a smaller group of ships can avoid a larger one, simply because of the size differences.
That's the point of the faster smaller ships, they can catch the slower ones and use guerrilla tactics.
(And by avoid, I mean the larger class of ships gets left behind in the chase, but the smaller class is able to keep up and still engage the hostiles of similar size)
Bigger is not always better.

Whats the word, enlighten me?

I actually don't agree with a lot of the changes going on in Eve where it affects the time and money put into the game to skill up in all forms to do something you find enjoyable for CCP to then go and change it.

That was real time and effort invested. I don't have the time or the patience to reinvest a bunch of time in all respects to make the way I play the game fun again.

The AI change for me was the biggest one thing that affected the way I play the game.
I can't even be bothered to logon anymore which is a shame because I used to love this game very much.

i agree with you.
For god sake ppl if u are in a guristas space and u find a ratter in the belt .... is it really that hard to even think that he might be tanked for kinetic and thermal? and his dmg is focused on that as well.
So how hard is it to take a ratter that has 2 resistances tanked up and 2 big holes for u to exploit?
now if u go attack him with blasters or kinetic missiles or any type of kinetic then you should quit doing pvp and stop bitchin about the AI.

Wow, the AI change has resulted in a greater tear harvest than I imagined.

The same thing happens in sleeper sites. You warp in and they shoot you. God forbid a Falcon is on field, because the sleepers instapop it.

The new AI mechanic can be overcome, but it will involve some different strategy and ships. Adapt.

We don't bother with strategy anymore: we just blob the **** out of people now. It works very well.

That doesn't mean the AI changes were a good idea, and it doesn't mean a lot of us don't want solo ganking back.

So (some blue bars to answer this?), can the AI take into account standings, and if not why not?

I mean that is the logical way forward - NPC'er being a bad monkey would have terrible standings, the opportunistic hunter could ensure he/she has positive standings so that the NPC's don't shoot them at all....

Implementing standings gains with a faction upon destroying the ship of a player who had negative standing to that faction would be amazing as well. I forget who mentioned it earlier in the thread, but it's a great idea.

Even so, though, it would make sense for rats not to shoot someone who was:

A) Not shooting them
B) Shooting a player who was shooting them

Even players in PvP scenarios do this. If you really need an elite pvp example, in one of Kovorix's videos he goes after a couple of escort ships and an Orca from one alliance. When he follows them through a gate he finds two neutral Thrashers also engaging the Orca gang. He proceeds to tear into the Orca and its escorts while leaving the Thrashers for last, because they're not threatening him and are helping him kill his first choice of target. As soon as the Orca and his friends are dead, he tries to grab the Thrashers as well (but doesn't succeed because they know what's going to happen and zoom off).
