thats where it really gets my goat though. while it would be relatively asinine to argue about what to call a thousand millions as its simply a dispute in what the designation is... a 1 followed by 6 zeros is either a million-whatever, or mega-whatever. either way same abbreviation!

where does ANYONE get the idea that "kk" is not absolutely wrong and idiotic?

I mean it would be reasonable if the dispute was wether to call "1,000,000,000" 1b or 1000m, or whatever else you want to call it, (though I think out of simplicity and brevity it makes sense to default to the american style designation...) at least on THAT one, its a dispute.

I beg to disagree: http://www.kotus.fi/index.phtml?i=546&s=2610

Although here it's used as a unit of time not to describe an amount.

Kotimaisten kielten keskus (kotus) is pretty much as official and final a source for finnish language as it gets.

So nerf the hurricane and make it more expensive to build and buy.. Yeah 'really' makes sense CCP

So people will stop flying it anyway due to the nerf, and doubly so due to price increase, way to go kill a ship in a day...

Be interesting to see how much this ship declines

It's an old-school European style of thinking. It changed before I got into this stuff to much but I do remember hearing a guy give a presentation where he used billiard (2 L's - not 1 like shown) and I asked him afterwards what the hell he meant (presentation to audience stuff -- audience was "old school" so he used "old school" phrases)

That number system hasn't been used in a while but there are still quite a few older folks around that stick to it.

As for tolerance of the abbreviation - if we can insist on Fahrenheit, Gallons and Feet vs Celsius, Liters and Meters here in the US, I'd tend to put a cork in talking about others foibles with respect to what they learned growing up and where it's led them with respect to expressing numbers.

so you mean you can't just sit still and churn out the same item all the time assuming you'll make the same profit?

You have to change your production lines when things change?

It'll take a fair time for the numbers to even out. Some people saw the change coming, and stuck in lots of BCs to cook. Singularity is handy that way.

Woo! CSM XI!

Not really, love the ship but yes it was a little overpowered. But this is nothing to do with that is it? Nerfing a ship fine, blasting it into the eve graveyard is another thing..

Probably.

In any event, "kk" is not valid.

Use Roman Numerals if you want, Long form, Short form, whatever. In no number naming scheme that I know is there a place for using "kk" to represent "Million."
