Lets not add more isk faucets to the game please. If anything, normal ship insurance should be taken out.

The op has a point, you can insure your ship for a payout when it goes to the great minmatar resources yard in the sky (although T2 ship insurance is a waste of isk since the payouts are laughable) so why can't you insure your implants?

Just interested since nobody seemed to be willing to put a comment after they wrote no, maybe they'd used up their bitterness quota for the day Blink

The insurance system is based on the average price of minerals. Since implants aren't made with minerals...
This also explains why T2 & T3 insurance doesn't pay out an amount that makes it worth it.

Apart from that, the game doesn't need another huge isk faucet.

Almost all implants comes from LP stores or loot drops.
For the LP store implants.
The isk needed fhe implant shall be reimbursed , when the Slave, snake and the sort , will be reimbursed at 50% market price

I know you are just throwing numbers out there but an actual fair insurance price but their price wouldn't even be 1-10%. This is based on refine for implants since you can take a stab at the bill of materials based on this. Since ship insurance is based on Bill of Materials I don't see why implant insurance should be any different. Unless you are advocating for insurance in general to be based on market value, with costs going up accordingly.

That being said, if clones were free, and implants had a bill of materials and had to be manufactured rather than plug and play then I could see insurance, since it would be based on the bill of materials.

It'd be another ISK faucet, something that CCP is trying to avoid.

People say this as if Isk faucet is a bad thing.

With more ISK in the game, those tech 2 ships and modules we all love using or the price of an individual PLEX may increase significantly.
Those hit hardest by this theoretical runaway inflation would be the average Joe who gets his income from mission-running, ratting or exploration.

However , at the same time. With the price of of T2 modules increasing with the demand being fairly inelastic .
That means the potential gain for those making such modules will increase substantially .
Ultimately the TSS of the society remains unchanged .
(Thank you Dr Eyjo)

To the average joe , inflation may SEEM like a bad thing, but to the economy as a whole (ie: 0.0 corporations - essentially separatist states)
High inflation lowers the value of our money so we can get fewer goods and services for each dollar.
This MAY seem bad , but we have the inflationary spiral on our side. This happens when prices rise, so firms have more profits, so they hire more miners from high sec, this sends their income up, so people have more money to spend on higher priced goods, so demand increases, and the prices keep going up. As T2 products only comes through research , this also means that researching becomes a profitable profession.
THEY TOO gain.

As productions are often MAGNITUDES more flexible than purchases. The final REAL output of the universe increase and EVERYONE gains.
As long as it doesn't go into SUPER inflation.... (Thats why we need to control the AMOUNT of reimbursement - note: Implants comes from nothing but sell for something too)

In the end , all it comes down to is moderation and control .
WHICH!
I believe Dr Ejyo will know what is appropriate and what is not.

Considering since the establishment of OTEC and CCP's macro economic manipulation via the PLEX systems have shown time and time again , their power at stabilizing the economy.
I believe the impact of this "Implant insurance" system will be minisuce in EvE terms.

And he has said (repeatedly) that the balance between Faucets and Sinks is way, way off in favor of Faucets. Which means that he has CCP looking for ways to reduce the magnitude of the discrepancy.

It facilitates combat. Implant insurance does not.

So it's a NO, from me.

That's because you're not using the t2 variants.
Snake , slave , talon...
Loads of pvp oriented implants.

This thread is about insurance, I find it strange you've forgotten that.

Insurance for ships facilitates combat, insurance for implants does not.
Hope this helps.
