Hi all

I recently bought a ATI HD7970 for it's large amount of display ports (4) + 2 DVI and obviously it's (promised) performance.

With EVE though I now get System freezes when I have two or three Clients opened.
Usually this is triggered by opening the map a few times (i guess there's some gpu intense operation happening).
The system will then freeze completely! Sound loops, Display freezes and I have to hard-reset (reset does not work, only power button 4secs).
This also happens without any sound enabled, so it's definitely not the soundcard.

Drivers are the latest, tried with .4 (latest) and .3

Seperate EVE-Clients don't help either (With each of the three clients set to its "own" ATI Card (1,2,3) (no I don't have CF, but eve shows cards 1-3).

Just wondering if I should send the Card back for RMA or if it's really just ATI & EVE ...
No Crashes with FurMark stressing the Card or any other Games.

Thanks a lot in advance!

Cheers,
- B

Edit: This still happens with latest 12.8 Drivers and also with just one (1) client!
Edit+: Also happens with 12.9 Beta Drivers *sigh*

Things Tried but still having system freezes/crashes

  • Disabled Flash Acceleration
  • Full OS Reinstall
  • GPU Stress Test (no crash triggered)
  • GPU Memory Stress Test (no crash triggered)
  • Disabled/uninstalled HDMI/DP Audio Drivers/Device (see this post )
  • Disabled AA in EVE
  • Set Interval to "Default"

Do you also get the vertical grey lines? If so this is resolved by disabling the HDMI audio device.

Hi Guys & Girls
If your still having issues with full system lockups when opening the map try downloading the latest AMD driver 13.1 (release date 17/1/2013) its fixed my issues without work arounds.
I would recommend un-installing the pervious version & restarting windows before installing the new.
Hope this works for you.

I literally JUST built this computer less than 2 days ago, using ATI Raedon HD 7750's with Cat. 13.1 drivers.
I cant get past the launcher. it hangs my computer completely, have to reboot.

I installed EVE on a separate SSD HDD other than my OS.

Can anyone help?!

i can post specs if needs be. but i cant even get it to verify the client the farthest it's made it is 34% before it locked up the whole PC.

I've tried running EVE in safe mode, i've tried a repair, nothing works with it, it just continues to lock up.

*UPDATE*

So apparently there is a known issue with the ssd I purchased, a full, not quick, format of the drive seems to have resolved the issues. I thought it may had been the video card locking up but everything is running like a champ now.

ATI 13.2 beta's are epic. Even better than 13.1. Surely eve hasn't always looked this good. What have I been missing.

+1 for AMD/ATI. they have finally cracked it.

I run two windowed sessions, each at 2560 x 1440 on a Radeon 7850. The new 13.2 drivers seem to make the display corrupt to the point of not even being able to find the shutdown button within a few minutes of starting to use the clients. I have rolled back to 13.1 and everything is fine again.

I've reported this to AMD but thought I'd mention it here in case anyone else has the same problem.

Hello, im on my second week of eve and I have an issue aswell but it's not the same as everyone else explains it.

I run with a Radeon 6950 HD card and Win 7. I'v had no hard lockups, iv had freezes of 0,5sec to 30sec and this have made me loose around 100m isk in value ingame, just because my screen froze at the worst possible time. Anyhow I run other games very well, WoW and BF3 on almost maxed graphics with no sense of lag or freezing. I can't say I havent frozen in Eve before some patch as I am rather new. I have tried most of the stuff allready posted in this thread with no luck, iv tried to format my system, iv tried to run it of 4 diffrent disks and I have also tried to play on my laptop wich outspecs my desktop. In my issue I get freezed mostly when close to stations, in warps/jumps or just completle random at times. It has made me frustrated as in loosing two ships while mining, screen freezes and when I get back my pod just exploded! 10ish mil isk and I don't even get to see it blow up. I'v tried to run almost every driver from AMD and I still getting the freezes. I should also add that im a big total war player and Shogun 2 and the expansions don't make my system freeze at all, no issues in any other game infact.

And to the big troll on the site, if you can't understand that this is CCP fault, then go back to your cavechair across your mama's room! :-)

Just built a new computer.

Graphics Card is an Asus HD 7770. I'm periodically getting a freeze on my eve client and the message "AMD display driver has stopped responding and recovered". I run 2/3 accounts across 2 x 21.5" displays. The crashes are really annoying.. Any tips on how to fix would be lovely.

Rest of sys:

That'll be 100% a software issue. I'd recommend going to device manager and finding "AMD High Definition Audio Device" under sound, video and game controllers. Disable that.

If that doesn't do it you could try disabling "turn off screens after x mins" in your power settings as on 7xxx series cards this completely powers off your GPU and I've heard of some people having issues with it (Doesn't behave nicely for me when I'm using eyefinity actually).

Reinstalling your drivers is always worth a shot too.

This latest patch has dropped my FPS by 2/3 when running multiple clients compared to same setup yesterday.

I'm having no problems with the latest drivers for the 7850.
I did experience the system freeze, but I just progressively lowered the settings on the second client until it stopped happening. This is the only game that will cause a complete system freeze really. I did experience it once with Crysis 1 on max/ultra/blow your computer up settings, but that's about it.

I would like to run both clients at max, and technically I should be able to with my system, but I doubt that will ever get fixed.
