Let me start by saying I didn't read your post, because the grammar of the title gave me an aneurism, and I am only posting now, after some critical brain surgery.

"DEV's AN outsider view of the game and desperate needed changes"

I can only assume by this you MEANT to say;

"CCP Developers: An outsider's view of the game, and some desperately needed changes."

You're welcome.

Here are two things in desperate need of changes:

1. Your use of languange, specifically the employment of paragraphs and punctuation.
2. Your understanding of the mechanics and history of the game.

I did not read the OP because it was unreadable, but from the other answers I have sussed out that the fundamental problem is that you don't understand how EVE works. You think it's like most other MMOs you've tried, and you're making assumption about EVE based on those other MMOs. It's a bit like assuming you know how Civ works because you've played minesweeper.

First let me start by saying I played Eve long before it was a MMO. I like the idea what and its about the only space game out there. I have 3 boys and i can honestly say we have all played Star Trek MMO ( fail) , Start Wars MMO ( another fail) and currently 2 World of Warcraft accounts since the games creation. I have seen many MMO's and games come and go. I actually bought this game when it came out but never opened it up. Maybe its my fault but it never showed much in publicity . Since this past month of playing if you call it that ive lost my ships , there's basically no help and all the old timers have no use to explain anything. You have no current books in any stores and it appears to be one hell of a complex game, but impossible for new players to start , catch up, or really want to play. Im sure all the old players will complain and shoot their mouths off.

This is true, not all of them but in general imo, it is. Eve has one of the worst tutorials I've seen on any MMOs I've played so far, but that's also partly (or you can say even mostly) because none of the games I've played were even comparable in depth compared to Eve. This game is hands down the most complex and has the deepest gameplay I've ever seen out of any games for that matter.

However look at this from a new players perspective. If you buy a game in which theres really no way to get to any level of the older players( in which they are in a field their own doing way way more advanced stuff talking years in real life?) why would you want to play. Granted the game has evolved 10 fold just like world of warcraft ; but people can still catch up and still play with the bigger boys in the game. You have lost other servers and many players and those that do play get by without paying by killing for paid game time? To me that seems stupid. So the only players that stay playing are free players? Ive sat for literly one month skilling only to still be like nowhere near competent to play this so evolved game. Why would any new player plan on paying for years when they can't progress much? I get it for the old timers ;that being said but then again this game wasn't that evolved and players were all in the same boat when Eve first started. Now you have a huge disadvantage to new Players.

But this is when I start to disagree with you. I've played WoW for 3 years or so (among a dozen other MMOs), I can honestly say this. You got it wrong there, you are not meant to measure enjoyment, competence and competitiveness by the amount of skill points you have, this is actually one of the strongest point in Eve's design.

In other MMOs, the longer you play, the older your character is, the harder it is for new players to beat you, in most cases, it's even strictly impossible for newer players to beat veterans. Say in WoW for instance, a level 20 warrior, no matter how good you are are in playing, there is no way possible to beat a level 80 paladin, the game doesn't allow it to happen, the devs doesn't want that to happen.

In Eve, you can beat the crap out of a guy flying a 2bil isk ship with 50mil SP (that's a ~2 years old character) with a mere 3-5mil SP char in a frigate. In Eve, weeks old characters can make far far more isk than years old characters if you know what to do. You won't see that kind of stuff in a lot of other MMOs. Eve game mechanics rewards knowledge and social interaction above any other games I've played in the last 12 years. In Eve, new players weighs the same value as veterans, mainly because the players are what's important, not the characters nor their skillpoints, this short quote that I've taken shamelessly would probably describe this better : "Every rifter counts".

I joined a corp just the other day and i mean seriously 4 of us were new to the game a few lost everything of what little bit we did have. We are learning from people ; but still many don't want to talk to you even in your own corp. You are like a pesky fly on the wall.

Your problem is quite simple, you joined the wrong corp.

Quote:
This game is going to go down the tubes like the others if you don't change things or give newbies a buff to skill speed or a basic set of skills to start depending on what they want and a penalty to change it? Something needs to change.

The only thing that needs changing is your perspective, Eve doesn't work like other MMOs.

Quote:
SO many people I've talked to ,have said buy a character its the only way. Are you kidding me ill quit before i buy a character or have to play 3 years to get up??

Those people are dumb and you shouldn't listen to them.

TL;DR version : As others have stated, you completely missed the point of how Eve works. You literally can't compare Eve with other MMOs out there, try to learn what you missed, join a corp that appreciates players more than their skillpoints. In short, figure out what Eve's all about.

Looked at op, read op, understood why no one wants to help him.

Damn, that beats me. I didn't join until the TRS-80 version was out.

I did actually read the OP, painful as it was. Who the F has internet access in 2013 and doesn't know how to format a post so it's at least readable?

Anyways, I'd like to point this post out to all those "EVE WOULD GET SO MANY MORE SUBS IF" types for whom 300k+ subscriptions are not enough. This is the kind of players you'd get, people who think that "not being able to catch up" with veteran players is somehow important in EVe liike it is in other "leveling" style MMOs. Impatient people that don't like the idea that an mmo would *gasp* make you wait to fly "the good stuff" etc etc.

You "more subs" people only see the potential good that comes from what you want ("ccp would have more money to make EVE awesomer!) but never the bad (ie general MMO gamer's SUCK and would lead to the ghetto-ization of EVE with all their begging for CCP to put them on equal footing with players who have been around longer).

Although your wall of text is a bit hard to respond to. I'd suggest joining rvb as one of the options for yourself as a newbie.

Be forewarned we are mostly a PVP corp so you will need to drop/join the alt corp to earn isk. And we will gladly explode your ships when you undock them. But it is a place where you can be effective even as a relatively new player and see a variation of ship v. ship PVP that's available in EVE.

The other options would that you might want to look at are EVE-uni and Brave newbies inc.
