Tournament of Frigates - 17:00 UTC Saturday March 9th, 2013

Hello All,

I would like to organize a fun little event next weekend using the new duel mechanic. I propose a structured single-elimination tournament to be held somewhere in highsec where anyone who wants to can bring a cheap frigate (say, only T1's allowed, maybe an isk limit for modules?) and engage in some structured PVP. Before anyone points this out, yes, I am fairly new to this game, and no, I don't have anybody on my killboard. I'm not averse to PVP, I simply don't have the skills for it yet. I am, however, pretty good at organizing events like this.

What I am thinking is a small entry fee - maybe 100,000 isk (so even rookies can join in if they want), with the winner getting 5,000,000 isk (funded by me and anyone else who wants to see this happen) plus the entry pot. Two reasons for such small amounts: 1) I'd like everyone who wants to to get involved, even if they are short on isk or new to the game. 2) I'd like to do more of these in the future, but obviously nobody knows who I am, and who would willingly send isk to someone they don't know? 100,000 is nothing, and if people come, it could be a lot of fun.

Some basic rules I'd recommend:

- As mentioned previously, only tech 1 frigates allowed, with a limit on modules - either isk/based or no tech II/faction mods (I'll fit a ship scanner to my Rattlesnake so I can make sure no one sneaks in anything heavy)
- A tournament roster will be set up before hand so the duels can be planned in advance. A list will be posted with the participants and the ships they will bring (though the fitting can be secret until the day of)
- No podding will be allowed. This is meant to be a fun tournament in cheap frigates for people to enjoy themselves, not to worry about losing their implants. (Obviously this cannot be easily enforced except by not allowing any violators to progress in the tournament. Even highsec has risk!)

If anyone is interested, reply to the thread or message me privately with suggestions for a system to hold it in. I'd recommend Halle, mostly just because that is where I am based, but I'd gladly fly a reasonable distance to do it. (Though not to Jita, there's enough activity there as it is...) Anyone wanting to come along to watch and not participate is welcome, even encouraged to bring a big ship to help punish any offenders/trolls.

Please offer any constructive advice/criticism of the idea, and if you are interested let me know and i can start putting together a roster. If you do come make sure you have extra drones/isk to repair your ship between duels!

TL;DR: Fly to Halle next Saturday in a cheap frigate and try to blow other frigates up for isk!

It's high-sec, man, that's why they need to ~duel~.

That's why hopefully there will be a few of us in bigger ships that can, along with Concord, discourage any malfeasance. If anyone goes rogue and starts shooting someone they're not in a duel with they'll turn red immediately and everyone can join in punishing the offender.
