As part of your training, you are required to watch these videos so that you know what the heck bittervets are nattering-on about. Some are educational, others just entertaining.

Many / all are also available by searching YouTube and EVE-Files

Clear Skies
Pay close attention to Clear Skies, as you will be required to memorize the dialogue.

Community Spotlight - Clear Skies (overview)
Clear Skies I
Clear Skies II
Clear Skies III

Translations and subtitles are also available. See the "Links" page on the main site for a link to EVE-Files.

I made a donation because I enjoyed them so. See the PayPal link on the main site: http://www.clearskiesthemovie.com/

CCP Trailers
CCP tends to release to their CCPGAMES YouTube Channel. You are required to watch the teasers and trailers for every major expansion.

Also watch the other media available from the sidebar on the left, and CCP's other YouTube videos (like "In Development").

It is lowres and ancient, but it still my favourite: The Caldari Outlaw. The Quantum Rise trailer is another favourite of mine, because it starts "realistically" with The Scope. Dominion, as flawed as it is, is also a good one to watch, in my opinion.

Probing Guides
A little outdated, but still good: CCPGAMES - EVE Online: Scanning Guide Tutorial

A more recent player one: EVE Online *NEW* Scanning Probe Tutorial

There are many other tutorials on YouTube. Search for "probing" and "scanning" tutorials with the keywords "eve online".

Rooks & Kings
Considered controversial by some, but interesting peeks into capital warfare none the less. Anatomy of a Fight is probably the best one to watch if you have limited time, as it briefly covers the topics of the first two Clarion Call. Clarion Call 3 is about w-space warfare.

VideoBR 4: Anatomy of a Fight
The Clarion Call - Triage Special
Clarion Call 2: Pantheon
Clarion Call 3 (released)

The Rooks and Kings YouTube Channel.

EVE Video Blogs
These are completely optional, I just figured if I'm writing about videos I should mention these:

EVECoPilot by PuppyUK. A very educational series. See the playlists.

Tracking my trip through Eve by Bucklin Fondue. What can I say about Bucklin's rookie blog, other than I watched all, and keep a lookout for new episodes.

Synnistry by Nyrael Elarik. EVE from a rookie's perspective. Not really educational, but you can see that others have the same questions and problems you do. She laughs when others would be upset, so that's why I like her videos.

Flash
Optional, but worth a look.

Eve Online - RMR by ~TheKiller8 on deviantART - Not every expansion is perfect, and Red Moon Rising (RMR) was not without flaws. Quite humorous (to a bittervet).

I'm sure I'll edit a few thousand times more if I missed anything, but post your recommendations too.

Eve Never Fades Not HD but a great CCP trailer, great soundtrack to. (Gfx are pre facelift and so are a lot of the effects)

I'll add some player made vids to this.

Newbies Welcome one of the best recruitment vids I've seen yet, if only everybody treated newbies this way.

Eve Destruction Mix Doesn't strictly adhere to Eve lore, but covers the back story beautifully.

This is Eve pt1, pt2 and pt3 Showcases courtesy of Loxyrider/EOH Poker.

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

Armor HACs
Okay this is a classic. Here one FC (fleet commander) "disagrees" with another over target calling (armor HACs have a limited optimal range, which he tries to point out to the other FC in a not-so patient manner).

Keep in mind that in the heat of battle tempers can be hot and patience short. This is something to laugh at not to fear though.

Shadoo rage: Armor Hacs, ARMOR hacs, ARRRRRMOR HACS!!!!!!!!!

If I can find the link with Shadoo's explanation, I'll post it.

When Carebears Attack
Another classic (judging by the shield booster effect, it is pre-Apocrypha) for anyone that doesn't think that mining and PvP mix, here's a Hulk (pre-patch, they are tougher now) pilot that is fed-up with can flippers.

Tank CEO, Daakon and the unfortunate low sec miner
There is however some bad language, even if most is edited out.

But videos i recomend to new players are;
Tortuga - Lacrimosa
Vengeance of the Fallen | The Exodus Chronicle

And one last one just for the fun of itBig smile

Good stuff, def. something a player should watch at one point or another.

However, I see a small problem with this and I'm writing this as a new player aimed at other new players:

-You won't understand much.-

This is ok, Clear Skies for example is still quite enjoyable even though you have no idea what the heck they are on about and why it's such a big thing to do what they do, in the way they do it and you'll have tons of namedropping going on that won't mean much to you.

To explain a bit further - this is the main issue with EvE Online for new players that I see and experience myself. If you know what the term "bittervet" refers to and why it's slightly ironic then that's good, you probably will get a lot out of these clips as well. But for most of us new guys EvE is an intricate web of terminologies and unknowns that just will not make much sense to you.

To explain the game, people who have played it for a long time will often link you killmails, youtube clips of cool fights and indeed comedic clips such as the ten tron scams etc. There's nothing wrong with it, but without knowledge of what you are actually looking at means it's not really going to tell you much.

It took me a long time to understand what on earth I was looking at when looking at recordings of PvP or listening to the tears of people having been scammed. If you are new, chances are this will happen to you to.

So what is my point with this? Well, my point is that while this is all fun to watch don't get annoyed because it's confusing - because it will be VERY confusing - and just bookmark these things and come back to them as you learn more about the game.

Clear Skies is still like a whole new experience every time I watch it because there's always something new I can see like "ooh, so THAT's why that is funny" or "hey, I recognize that ship and I see why it's cool that they used it like that".

It's like a gift that keeps on giving - just give it a little time.

If ever there was an essential Sticky post for this forum...This is it!

There should be an exam on this you have to pass before you're allowed to undock for the first time!

+1

another thing to keep in mind -- CCP changed the names of a lot of things (missiles, modules, etc) last year ... so older videos/tutorials/etc will probably refer to the "old" names at times, and you won't find a "modern" module with that name.

Also, other things just get stuck with the "old" names -- E.G. the CNR, in game it's (IIRC) a "Raven Navy Issue", but the original name was "Caldari Navy Raven" ... and so, "CNR" stuck.

This post from the old forums will help with getting some of the acronyms & general terminology down.

One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia

Kil2's videos on solo and small gang PVP are also good to watch.

Sadly, the channel is now defunct because Kil2 joined CCP recently.

The MWD+Cloak "Trick":

CCP Dropbear even linked a video of how it is done: MWD+cloak trick..how to do it

I prefer: EVE tutorial: Cloak - mwd trick

Note that you need an Improved Cloaking Device II, as the Prototype Cloaking Device I is just too slow.

Agree.

Stupidity combined with raging after taking a game way to serious is NOT griefing.

Still doesnt mean it isnt a great video to watch.
