This question might be a little off topic but if you guys aren't playing Eve, then what are you likely to be playing?

Painting and decorating my new flat.

More of a chore than a game really.

The use of the word, 'wretches' again by a goon person. See posts by Andski for details

Looks like they are given a 'word of the month' to use by their corp.

Still, beats them having to think for themselves.

That's why TEST are more genuine. Some Goons are slowly drifting towards BoB elitism and asshattery. And that's bad, because there are really several of them I like or at least respect a lot.

I guess it would depend on how you view genuine. BOB cared nothing for their pets and generally were bad allies. While Goons have very long and deep allied relations and are generally regarded as great allies.

So funny that you have it reversed. TEST, at least it's leadership, forgot who their friends were.

Goons have always been asshats though. Nothing changed there. I wouldn't have it any other way.

This method applies to many aspects of the game, if we couldn't pull it off with suicide ganking we'd have more serious problems. Smile

"General policy" implies that it's not a choice though, that it's something you're obliged to follow whether you want to or not.

Yes we have certain guidelines to follow. What I'm saying is that we build our processes to be able to cover designing for every aspect of EVE, even if it's areas we don't experience directly on an everyday basis.

what changed is that in contrast to your previous CEOs The Mittani seems to take EVE pretty seriously which has rubbed off on your alliance as a whole.

the "don't give a ****" pre-Delve goons (lead by grandstanding clowns of questionable integrity and competence) seem a lot more likeable than the "let's write the authoritative manual on modern organization and management techniques applied to EVE" goons that founded the CFC.

Even incompetent people can be organised. Being organised does not imply competence.

Here is Phil. He has packed a picnic hamper with sandwiches, milk, plates, cups, a blanket and cutlery. He heads off with his special friend to have a picnic. In the rain. In a swamp. Organised but incompetent.

Here is Don Juan. He has a horse, armour, a lance, supplies and a sidekick. Off he goes to wage war against the giants threatening his country. Except they are windmills, not giants. And the windmills are pumping water or milling grain. Organised but incompetent.

Here are the Thénardiers. They run an inn. Amongst the family they have the nickel-and-dime show down to an art, they have the plfering and pickpocketing sorted out, and they have mastered the secrets of watering down their Makers Mark so they can make 5% more profit while the taste of the drink is unaltered. Organised, but incompetent. They think they're pretty hot stuff though, due to the number of scams they get away with and the way they invite people to their inn only to be pillaged. With the same amount of effort to actually running an inn rather than a scam house, they'd be making more profit and have a better name for themselves.

While I am sure it would please his ego to no end to hear that people think it was all Mittens, alas it was not.
Great management helps to be sure, but it was far more organic than that. What has happened at this point is you have had years of experience and war and planning and strategy and financial acumen built up into a veteran core.

It isn't any one person or strategy, but a small collective of extremely skilled (at their chosen playstyle) players that comprise the "management' of GSF. Which in turn rolls into CFC. If Mittens were to step down it would continue in much the same way, just like it has through many a CEO. So if it appears SERIOUS BUSINESS, well that is just because many of us are playing at a level most of EVE isn't playing at yet. Not some chestbeating thing, just why it may appear it is all serious business, when in fact we are just as hilarious, only in more shadowy ways the regular EVE player isn't going to see.

Goons didn't really grow up, so much as evolve into that creepy clown you think will molest your children. But still zany!

Fozzie do you know of any CCP employeers who live in wormholes? Alot of wormholers feel very under-represented.

yk

Lots of Icelandic people play EvE, far more than are employed by CCP.

CCP employees are only allowed to sit in jita repetitiously screaming messages encoded in scam sell orders

And wood ships,

And ships that sail the sea

But the best ships are Spaceships

I would like to take this time to remind all of you how lucky you are to have this development team.

I've been gaming for just shy of 12 years, and in NO other game have I seen the level of involvement shown by the developers here. To see them frequently playing their own game is something of a feat. Regularly posting on the forums and interacting with the community by a dev team is nothing short of shocking in my experience.

I came here from a year-long stint in SWTOR, one of the most over-hyped and under-delivered games in MMO history. The development team there could give **** all about their player base, which is a major reason why that game tanked in record time.

People may not agree with everything these guys do, but at least they're mixing it up elbow to elbow with the players in an effort to make a better game.

I agree, and with my experience in games, the only guys who play their games to balance more than CCP would be Blizzard (although that may have changed recently).

CCP, speaking for all my fellow belligerent undesirables, I assure you that we can tell that none of you does what we do.

I'm very skeptical that you guys can properly work on game aspects that at least some of you don't partake in. In my head I picture someone in the office going 'Hey, can anyone tell me how this mission invasion thing works?' and everyone just kinda shrugging their shoulders and that person going 'Well, better nerf it, then.'

As a miner whose income relies on everyone else getting ganked, I too would like to see more CCP staff actually pick up the cross of exploring the darker side of the game.

Sure, there will be the inevitable fallout of staff being accused of using insider knowledge to gank that freighter load of PLEXes (because, y'know, noone uses cargo scanners). But you guys are awesome, you can handle it!

If they were doing it according to the rules it wouldn't be known it was a dev. But that aside, who is to say they would find their opinions on the matter changing even if they did partake? They may not be measuring by the same standard as you or I.
