So this will be my first time at Fanfest, and it is largely due to my girlfriend getting super excited at the idea of a trip to Iceland. I was kind of tempted (it being year 10 and all), but her being all "ZOMG ICELAND!?!" made me man up and get tickets etc...

Now the catch is this: even on the SoE ticket there is a lot of time to fill. She has been looking up all kinds of stuff to do and see, planning where and what she wants to do, and being the kind of person she is, she is looking for people to do things with. She's also a Girl Scout leader, and so far the Icelandic chapter has been ignoring her email requests for a possible meet-up.

Here's the question then!

Who else has a wife/girlfriend/boyfriend/associated-hanger-on that is coming to Iceland and is looking to have people to do things with or just to meet new people with an automatic thing to talk about? Any Scout leaders out there who might want to exchange "traders" (I think this means stamps/patches or some such, but I'm not really up on the ins and outs of scouting).

For those who have been before: is there anything you would put on a "Must See" list? Interesting places, even if not your conventional tourist kind of places are always nice to visit. Anywhere with particularly good food you would suggest to others? Hell, anywhere that even makes a particularly nice spot for a walk or a comfy sit and relax?

Put the clock back two years, this was my partner and I....
He: do you want to go to Iceland/Europe for a week so I can got to Fanfest?
She: no way... not unless we can stay another five weeks and check out Europe while we're there!
He: *facepalm*

The SOE tour in 2011 was a fabulous day with mostly girls but a couple of guys tagged along, you can see photos on the Eve Fanfest site. The buzz is that everyone had a great day in the super jeeps travelling up creeks and through ice and snow!

I suppose the main problem is the SOE Tour doesn't happen until Friday. It wouldn't be too hard to organise a time and place on Thursday to meet (outside the venue, while the nerdy ones in the partnership are checking in) for significant others/ hangers on etc to meet and greet with the view to going and playing tourist together for the day if they hit it off.

If anyone is looking for something like this for their significant other / friend (male or female) please respond in this thread and we will see what interest there is in setting something up.
