You made one big mistake. You said that overnerfing is just as bad as power creep.

Lets say we nerf the Drake to uselessness. Then we have one battlecruiser that is useless, and the rest of the ships are useful.
Lets then say you buff the Drake to oblivion. Now there are not one ship in the game worth flying over the Drake. No frig, no cruiser no battlecruiser. Only the Drake.

See the difference here. By overnerfing you risk only breaking one ship. With power creep you risk breaking all of the other ships.

Is that you trying to blackmail CCP over the Drake?

BTW, I never flown the Drake but it sure had it coming. The Drake has been the answer to too many questions in EVE for too long and it made me sick of it to the point i decided to avoid it altogether. After this balancing iteration I might actually try one out. With ham of course.

I fly drakes, and it was ridiculous that a long range weapon system could outdamage a close range one. Seriously guys, stop comparing HML drakes with AC canes. That is why the HML was nerfed, and for a good reason.

Drakes are still awesome as close combat brawlers with HAM and uber shield tank.

And the rebalancing is doing quite a good thing to this game, because now all the ships are useful. 2 years ago this was Drake/rifter online. Now you can face ANYTHING, and fly ANYTHING, and still have fun / good fights.

Boohoo. MMOs need to be constantly balanced or else they develop serious problems. It's healthy for the game.

The drake is still capable of doing about 300-400 DPS and shooting between 30-50km with HMLs all while having about 60,000-80,000 EHP and permanently running a MWD travelling at nearly 900m/s.

If it is still all that AFTER the nerf, then I think it probably needed one.

Drakes aren't as useless as people think, it's still a pretty good kiting battlecruier, it just means that it may not be appropriate to all circumstances as it was before.

Post for content: The drake changes are pretty well thought out. The HAM cyclone is pretty kickass and I think i'll be flying them quite a bit. New Ferox looks to have some serious potential as a brawler. Previous missile changes have made rockets a lot more viable.

tl;dr Caldari is in a reasonable place (though BS and capital missiles really need some work, paging CCP Fozzie)

more like "boohoo. despite all assertions to the contrary the metagame will go stale if CCP doesn't shake it up every now and then by creating a new FOTM"

(CCP has been pretty open about this recently - they are not looking for "perfect" balance, they are looking to keep the metagame interesting even if doing so results in temporary imbalances - and that's a very controversial stance for them to take.)

Also like how people whine about Cane getting "a lot more kills" than Drake when Drake is #6 and Cane #5.

And they doubled it's kinetic damage bonus. They also removed a gun from the Brutix, Myrmidon and the Harbinger. Your point?

They gave it a damage buff you tard. It has a double bonus now, which more than makes up for the missing launcher. Stop sleeping through math class.

Oh and completely ignore to mention that the drake DPS got buffed today..

Before patch
7*1,25=8,75 effective launchers

Post patch
6*1,5=9 effective launchers

Sure this is at BC V but the dps will be same pre/post at IV.
