CCP Nerfs and the dreaded power creep

So I wanted to pick up on a Subject about nerfs that are coming primarily to the drake.
CCP tends to nerf more then buff due to what they like to call "the power creep"

But over nerfing can be just as detrimental as the power creep.
CCP is yet again nerfing Caldari in the upcoming changes to the drake.
Nerfing the dmg and the tank it was just a few months ago that ccp nerfed the HML system that in it self was an indirect nerf to the Drake at the time of the nerf the Drake was sitting at number 1 or 2 and HML was sitting at one or two on eve kills tops 20.

After the HML nerf drake stayed low on the top 20 for a few weeks then made a small come back and trends in the top 20.
with the cane and med auto cannons trending higher on the boards. http://eve-kill.net/?a=top20
The reason I say that nerfs can be as bad as ccps "power creep" is that if you keep pushing something lower and lower by the way of nerfs they something else will out shine it. After this change I will bet that you will see a larger gap between the cane auto cannons and the drake and HML on the top 20.

So what happens then? CCP will not buff because of said creep so are they to nerf the next FOTM ? doesn't this just create a reverse power creep? Judging on numbers alone you can not argue that the cane / autocannons are seeing much higher use rates post HML nerf what happens after the drake nerf? That gap will widen .

While some posters will write threads in a fit of rage I can say that I understand the "rage" i guess.
Now I am not even a drake pilot I own some drakes I am trained down missiles but due to CCPs unwillingness to see the imbalance between missiles and guns and winmatarr and caldari you have people posting that they are wanting to quit.
I am on the verge of either paying my account for a full year or letting the time run out on it.

If CCP continues down this warmachine of nerfs instead of finding a creative way to buff or give something back to us players I may just let my account time run out.
Now you can sit here and say what ever you like but numbers do not lie if the drake was so "OP" it would still be in the top 2 not bottom 10. It floats right in the middle of the pact and to me that tells me it is somewhat balanced.

How long before CCP nerfs my ships ? This would not be an issue if it did not take months and months on end to recover from a nerf and cross train into other ships / systems.
I almost feel as if the nerfs are more about keeping people active by forcing players to cross train then it is about balance.
While some of you will stay and play because you are wither to afraid to leave or have no other game to play or what ever your reason for staying , that does not mean that other players will not quit over nerfs.

Yeah sure let them go you will say but IF i was CCP I would be thinking more about retention then a few nerfs to a ship because some people complain about them. No one is quitting over drakes being "OP" but CCP might lose some players if they do not rethink their balance policy's you can not just always take take take.

There has got to be other ways to Balance they throw around this power creep phrase way to much and stand behind it like some sort of shield like they have Brain washed you people into thinking that any buff would make the EVE servers crash and burn because everything in the entire game would have to become more and more powerful that is not the case.
Or you can just simple leave stuff alone and stop making changes based on the needs of one group of people who have way to much say on stuff that happens in this game. I wish the day would come that a larger company would buy out EVE so we can avoid all these changes that are related to devs and gamers being to closely tied.

CCP know what they're doing. The tiercide changes have created so much variation to fleet setups I am spoilt for choice when I ship up.

IE Cross train. Like I said before it just feels more like they are making changes more in the lines or forcing cross training to keep that bill rolling an other month then it is about balance.

Then why did the HML go from first place to 10th ++ after HML nerf and Drake from 1-2 to 7++ spots?
That seems like a rather large change to me.

Nah. Power creep is much worse than over-nerfing for the simple reason that it the latter only means the one thing affected remains unbalanced, rather than making everything unbalanced in attempt to fix that one thing.

Also, “yet again”? When did they do it the last time? Caldari got a huge buff with the missile changes, and aside from faction-wide changes to all ships in a given class, that was the last time (in a long while) that anything caldari-related was touched.

It actually is. QFT.

Everyone I know that fly the Drake, and did before the "nerf" (which was actually a buff) whined like hell when changes were proposed, and they still fly the drake and say that it is still awesome. You still get up towards 100k EHP, which is a stupid amount of HP compared to all the other battlecruisers, and you still get great damage and projection.
