What kind of armor PVP fleet do you guys usually field when going into a hostile WH or when defending your own?

Interested in trying out some new armor based PVP ships with some of my toons.

How about a list of pilots, when they're usually online and counters to our most-used fleet doctrines to go along with that?

You could just look at the sticky of alliances and corps at the top of this forum and look at their killboards...

While we tend to roll large, we don't typically have a unified setup that everyone flies. The nice thing about T3s is the fits and subsystems vary in the individual ships.

Example, you would likely have some proteus for points/scrams/dps, armor lokis for webs and some alpha, then a damnation for bonuses and smartbombs to pop EC drones around the guardians etc. Add in the mix some armor jamming tengus, neut legions to tackle and drain down guardians and you have a very solid fleet.

I guess the thing to think about is what tends to promote unified fleet doctrines is numbers vs numbers. With wormholes you obviously can't use battleships (Which is a shame since they're a relic from a far more civilized era) and so you're limited by the mass of your fleet traveling through WHs, and how much damage/utility you can get out of that.

This is why T3s tend to be very desirable, because you can fit many of the roles you need filled with them, and you won't be taking jump mass that can better be used by something else.

WH PvP requires ships with large dps and value per unit mass. While BS are nice they don't fit that doctrine. T3s do.

What you'll almost always find in a WH PvP Armor Fleet

HAM/Laser Legions
Neut Legions
Webbing Lokis
ECM Tengus
Absolutions
Damnations
Devoter (bubbler)
Proteus
Bhaalgorn (all neuts and only battleship on this list)
Guardians
and possibly other T2 Amarr/Gallente/Minmitar cruisers.

On the rare event you're getting invaded ECM scorps are nice. They just about shut down subcaps including logi so long as the pilot is compatent in his skills. We had one damn near shut down 3 basalisks.

Could have at least made him work for it.

Anyways, trying to put together some ships for my little team of toons not to collect intel on y'all, yet.

Really only had battleclinic to base my builds off of. Live in a C2 honestly don't see too many people around to PVP with as of late.

You scrubs all knock battleclinic but what you don't realize is that our alliance tournament winning setups were lifted directly from those hallowed web pages.

One of the best things about Eve is the ship design.

You need to design a ship around what you need one to do.

For example-

PvP? - where? HS / LS / Null / WH? Large numbers? Small gang? Solo?

PvE? - where? who with? What dangers will there be?

etc, etc.

I'd recommend planning and fitting your own ships rather than copying someone elses design that might have a completely different purpose to the one you are wanting.

Good advice to listen to. Verge of Collapse are miles ahead in the wormhole PVP game. Every time we get visted by these guys we try to give them a fight. Occasionally we can get a stalemate but mostly we just end up with this look on our face and talking about how deep the butt plug went in. In fact, last time our alliance leader got on comms while we were busy with them and and told us that he thought we should retreat because, in his words, "there's no winning against these guys". He also called them a bunch of names and complained about how they set up their ships and threatened us for being idiots etc.. My response is that you don't fight them to win, you fight them to learn. He missed the point and went back to his mining. Poor lad.

I'll tell you. If I ever get around to making a major change to my game then I know exactly where I'll be going....
