Take a look at their explosion radius and velocity.

Because you can walk away from the impact and blast - taking little to no damage.

Also, to you "miner / industrial haters" ... without minerals in sufficient quantities how would you ever have those shiney ships? Would be a pretty lame game if everyone was only running around in n00b ships.

Yes, that's what I was getting at.
You can speed tank the damn things in a freighter.

Enjoying the rain today? ;)

"Deep core mining - Skill at operating mining lasers requiring Deep Core Mining. 20% reduction per skill level in the chance of a damage cloud forming while mining Mercoxit"

Do these "gas clouds" even form?

I apparently have no idea what I'm doing.

Here is a truly useless one, Multitasking above 3, as no ship is capable of making enough target locks to make it count IIRC.

There are some modules that would like to have a word with you.

There is of course a lot of skills that you really need on 5, but there also seems to be a lot that would be a waste to even get to 3, mostly due to a lot of factors like having Alts, or the ability to use a Jump Clone with a couple of Implants to take care of certain jobs.

I wanted some feedback on what people seems to think are "wasted" points on some things.

I'll give one example I've come across as being "Scrapmetal Processing" as it can be a "waste" in two ways.

* You can obtain 100% reprocess with two other skills on 5, and a 2% industrial implant.
* You can apparently get 100% even on 35% Stations without having this skill on 5 by having ore refine skills on 2

Also, even on the worse stations, is having all the Ore reprocessing skills higher then say 3 necessary? Is 4-5 a total waste of time for those? Any situations where that does not work?

POS refineries. that's why you train them to 5.
