The advanced search needs more options like "date posted" Roll

Anyways what's going on with Coolant prices? They've been very unstable lately.
There are usually huge amounts on sale for 9790 and above - with the usual deals 0.01 or 1 ISK cheaper. Looks like this:

132,540 --- 9789.95
12,447 --- 9789.96
118,258 --- 9789.99
44,596 --- 9790.00

Then in less than half a day it suddenly looks like this:

117,400 --- 9479.99
[and so on, all the way down to]
12,000 --- 9649.00
160 --- 9699.99
2,440 --- 9750.00
132,540 --- 9789.95
12,447 --- 9789.96
118,258 --- 9789.99
44,596 --- 9790.00

A 300 ISK drop in less than a day? Mostly driven by orders with less than 1000 units? And then people start placing their sell orders normally at 9479.99 with the usual 0.01 ISK cheaper, in the same quantities like they were selling them at 9790.00 ISK. With only around 15,000-30,000 units In the gap between 9790 and 9490 someone dropped the price without anyone noticeing?
The price usually gets back to 9790 in about a week or two. Looks like someone is making quite the profit on this.

(numbers above are not actually taken from the market. I made them up, but they resemble what's going on - give or take 10 ISK)

Prices for planetary materials (from which coolant is derived) is seeing heavy movement for various other commodities, specifically those for the production of Nanite Repair Paste.

As more folks switch to producing Nanite goop, fewer pilots are producing just about anything else -- including coolant.

So buy some up and, possibly, watch the price rise as shortages are driven by demand.

A demand that might get even tighter as POS fuels in general get cheaper (falling ice block prices), and as a result some of those marginal moons in Low Sec and Null creep back into profitability.

Which, in turn, might possibly create an even nastier shortage on coolant as folks rush to crank out fuel blocks again.

Or not. I could be entirely and utterly full of crap. Blink

Study the Market Histories for commodities and decide for yourself. It's your ISK. Blink

I have been studying the Coolant prices for a long time now - and I've never seen something like this. I was wondering if someone forcibly dumps the price in a 1-2 week rhythm. Coolant has always been quite spiky.. but the past 1-2 months have been crazy.

Supply and Demand. I have been watching lots of PI for a while, sometimes there are more sellers than buyers and prices drops. The reverse is also true.

People usually create a lot of P3 or P4 over long cycles, but they dont usually take th outputs to market until its worth hauling there so some people dump monthly some weekly etc, when these people dump prices drop. Then they rise until someone else dumps. Then there are other factor like the pricing of components or product of the PI which will affect it.

Ie if robotics spiked to 150K, then people would buy lots of mechanical parts at sell order price knowing they could turn them into robotics and sell at a massive profit still. Figures made up but should give an idea of the senario.

Fuel block prices have been dropping as well as ice materials. And since coolant is used in fuel block production it would make seance that items used in their production would decrease as well.

Chances are that since the barge changes ice prices have been steadily decreasing, making more moon materials profitable. This means more POS's, more fuel and more moon goo up on the markets. These moon materials are finally becoming un-profitable because of how much supply there has been and people are tearing down the POS's, so there is less demand then there has been for fuel blocks and fuel block mats.

So in a week or two moon good prices will start to go up again, fuel block related mats will stabalize and that whole supply and demand thing you hear about will even out.

Not true. Producers look at prices of components as a whole. Some rise some fall. Important bit is how much it costs to produce 1 item. So in fuel block the price of topes is most important it makes up 1/3 of the production costs. If thats falling i can pay more for other parts and still reduce my cost per item. Allowing me to sell cheaper at more profit.

alot of PI is rising and IMO is due to a lack of ***edit*** Supply, i mean supply, ignore my noobness, or a well thought out, long and massive manipulation by some space rich folk

Gotta remember as well the barrier to entry on PI is incredibly low, in a week you can have a pretty productive PI ult with 3 planets going. Anything a monkey can do is cheap, so monkey's get paid cheap :D
