Actually, I just wanted some tips on skilling up my own alt, cheers for that!

That part was more mentioned towards the OP and not you.

Just for the record, I wasn't complaining. Just pointing out that it was kind of an apples and oranges comparison.

And just to clarify myself, I was merely asking a question, its honestly quite surprising how defensive some people get, jeesh.....

It's a question that's asked, over and over and over and over and over.

sure, not by you, but it keeps happening.

And anybody with a good amount of brain cells can also understand/figure out why it is.

And every other game company, too, I guess...

Not this again. As stated, no other MMO allows training/leveling more than one toon at a time. Now go away.

Yes I can name one that allows training more than one toon Age of conan.

As others have mentioned people might seem a bit..defensive/hostile because its a question that has been asked (mostly not in a nice way and more like an outright whine/threat, which leaves people with a bad taste in their mouth. Dont take it personal.

Your question has really been answerd but there is also another thing with training two characters at the same time that I personally think would be bad for EVE as a whole. If you could train two characters at the same time it would be really easy for someone to train some core skills, then just put the character up for sale, then repeat. On the good side the prices for buying a character would go down really fast.
On the bad side it would make it even easier for someone who is brand new to just buy a character, have no clue on how to actually play the game, get blown up and rage on the forums, and then quit playing.
I do realize that people can already do this quite easely by buying/selling plex's but i like to think that most of the people that buy characters have spendt a half year/year in the game learning how it works before they do this.

And then ofc you have the arguments others have mentioned.. Other games does not allow you to advance two characters on the same account at the same time. Now the counter argument to that is that you can just grind for a week or two and you are ready for "end game", but again, EVE does not have an end game.

New players also often think that SP is the only thing that matters!
I know it can seem frustrating that you are flying around in your brand new cruiser and then see someone in a titan and how cool it is and how unfair it is that it takes so long to skill for. But the truth is that you in your cruiser will be a lot more useful on many occasions, and it certanly will be a more affordable loss Blink
Now also keep in mind that just because someone has more SP then you in total it does not mean that they are "better" then you. As an example.. Say that you have 4 million SP while your friend has 15 million (making up numbers here). You have focused on combat skills while your friend has only trained for mining/production/trading. Your friend would have no way of beating you in a fair fight. And ofc, no matter how many SP you have EVE also requieres you to think. You can have the best" ship with "the best" modules, but if you are inexsperiensed or dont understand what your doing, you will get blown up (unless your really lucky, which ofc plays a part in PVP, or you encounter someone who is just as inexsperiensed a you).

I want to fly 2 ships at once. On one character. Why can't I do this?

That's not exactly 1 character piloting two ships so much as 1 player piloting 2 characters piloting 2 ships. ;)

In other games, I can take a character from zero to max level in a month and be geared enough for end game content or high level PvP. In Eve, that same amount of time can be spent training skills that give you a 10% improvement over what you already have.

You can train a character for any of the end-game activities in Eve in 2 - 3 months. The analogy holds pretty well.

The fact that you _can_ waste that time on incremental upgrades instead is no different from being able to hang out and play with side-activities instead of leveling in any other MMO.

(There certainly are end-game activities in Eve, since the addition of incursions we even have literal raids. None of them take more than a couple months of training to participate in, though.)

In most level-based MMOs you're pretty much railroaded into the endgame by virtue of the fact that you become invulnerable to low-level NPCs while naked, and able to one-shot them with the worst weapons in the game. (Not to mention that 80% of the flavor text beats you over the head repeatedly with the premise that you're eventually going to confront Big Bad for the current expansion.)

There's no real equivalent to flying in frigate gangs just for fun.
