Is it worth training other Char's on the same account?

I currently have two other characters on this account that I use for, well nothing at all. Mainly because they have no skills trained on them. I never felt the necessity to stop training on my main and train for something on the other character.

Is it worth doing so though? I don't have another account so it's not like I could use both at once, and if I did have another account, I would certainly be training both already.

CCP gave us three character slots for a reason, so there has to be some purpose for training other characters on one account, but I'm just not seeing the utility in it.

If you don't know what to do with them, then you don't need them.

Yes, they are useful to the people that need them.

Examples:
* 10 more manufacturing slots
* 10 more research slots
* 5 more PI planets
* Trade alts that never leave a trade hub.
* No-skill alts for price checking trade hub(s) [I have a no-skill alt in nulsec in an ORE station.]
* Cynosural alts with less than 900,000 SP so they never need to upgrade a clone.
* Alts to hold corporations or alliances.
* Low-skill PvP alts for cheaper clones.
* Alts to "anchor" a w-space system (scan a route out), so you can always get back to it. [Often only in an emergency - can be a no-skill alt with access to skill books and a scanning ship it can use with a little bit of training.]

The possibilities are almost limitless.

This question comes up quite frequently. Have you searched for previous threads on the same topic that might have the answers you're looking for?

(Hint: yes they're worth it)

When you have all the skills you want on your main you can train highly specialized characters to sell on the market.

You can also train up Alts for limited purpose on another (preferably a self-invited buddy-) account, transfer them for 2 plex and then use them without further upkeep cost (or rather for the opportunity cost of not playing your main during that time).

Train the other two as cyno alts/freighter pilots/miners... doesn't take long to train.

Basically all of the above and maybe a covery ops / recon alt with probing skills or if you run a JF then have a neutral alt for moving it in Empire if the main corp is dec'ed.

I couldn't live without my alts (w/basically all of the above options).

alts can have jump clones also - which are very easy to get...

I'd like to point out that my alts on this account have 8.6Mil SP and 22.8Mil SP

I like to have Black OP Cyno alts in recons. Ofc thats more relevant if you have several accounts as chars on other "slots" of your main account cant exactly light the cynos for you.

But it's nice for hoping around if you have 30 sec cloaky cynos in some places. Especially now that the jump range allows you actually reach more than just skipping 3 gates in most places.

Here, sanity... niiiice sanity, come to daddy... okay, that's a good sanity... THWONK! GOT the bastard.
