Improve faction / officer Guns

wow so this thread is still alive ? I though it got forgotten for good. I have nothing to add... faction/officer guns are broken and need serious attention. Not in 2 years but pretty soon. Thing is hilarious atm. You pay 100kk for single gun but you are better with gun for 1,5kk mass produced wohoho ;p

Faction is only remotely viable for lasers, and maybe hybrids, because they use less cap.

I'm actually in favor of spec skills affecting all weapons of that class, T1 or T2.
It wouldn't be too hard to allow faction/officer guns to load T2 ammo if you have the skills (just as with missile launchers, you can mount the missile launcher, but if you dont have FOF skills, you cant load fof missiles)


This would be by far the easiest "quick fix".

Navy something that costs 50,000,000ISK, 15,000LP, 200+ officer tags and gives you a +5% bonus...

or...

T2 something that costs 10,000,000ISK, zero LP, zero tags and gives you a +10% bonus.

The problem isn't the quality of Navy stuff... the problem is the cost. It's just not worth it, in either ISK, time or headaches required to get it - especially when the T2 stuff, which is already better, is so much easier and cheaper to get a hold of.

Get rid of tag requirements and drop the ISK price to something more sensible and Navy gear might actually be worth it again.

So much misinformation in this thread. Faction guns and officer guns ARE used fairly often, for pve setups, because faction guns generally provide significantly lower capacitor usage amounts (Imperial navy tachyons use 33% less capacitor I believe it was, than Tech 2 tachyons), and officer weapons often deal more damage than t2, even with bonuses applied.


HOWEVER! I do agree that they should be buffed, but ONLY in this fashion:

Allow faction/officer guns to use tech 2 ammo.

No other changes. That alone would bring them in line with/make them better than current t2 weaponry.
