I'm not sure what else to call the concept for now. Also, I apologize for altposting. I typed it up on my main at first, but then came to the conclusion that mentioning I'm currently 1-man corping stuff is just screaming for a wardec I don't need right now.

I've recently started playing EVE again, and due to time constraints, instead of rejoining my previous corp, I'm one-manning it in empire for the moment.

Doing this I realized just -how- awesome it is to have a corp hangar of your own to move and organize stuff between multiple accounts. A huge benefit that I'd lose if I actually rejoined a proper player corp since there's no way I could just ask for a few hangar tabs of my own. And, of course, other corp members with take access could nab stuff then. Essentially, I'd be nerfing myself by playing with other people again.

This gave me an idea. What about introducing organizational "Subcorps", small groups of characters within a larger corp that get some organizational structure of their own? Like a shared wallet and a hangar tab or two wherever the corp has an office? With option for the department leader to either flag the department as independent, meaning the hierarchy is semi-detached and directors can't audit/take division contents, or integrated, meaning directors would get full auditing/wallet/whatever rights?

This'd allow people with alts in the same corp to get some of the benefits that currently only 1-man corps offer, and for larger corps, it'd add organizational possibilities for industry/mining/whatever groups that'd benefit from sharing a hangar tab without higher-ups wanting to give them broader access roles or wasting a hangar tab.

Department sizes should probably be relatively small, like 10-15 people at most. Maybe add a "Department Management" skill that allows someone to create one, at 2-3 people per skill level.

Of course, details of the implementation could vary. I just think something like this would be insanely useful for corps.

I don't see this thread ending well. However, I'll contribute the following potentially useful commentary:

I think what you're looking for is a thread asking CCP to improve roles, role assignments and overall corporation organizational features.

In the meantime, you can have other people in your corp. That's what "Divisions" are for. Roles allow you to specify which role has access to which hangar divisions, and what kind of access they have. Give yourself and your alts access to Division 1 or 2 or whatever you like, and everyone else gets organized normally. Of course this requires you to be CEO of the corp, but that's not altogether a bad thing either if you're any good at leadership.

My exact point was that I did -not- want to occupy a main corp division in a location for the use of 2-3 people. The notion is absurd in any corp with more than ten or fifteen members.

My thoughts on the matter are more along the lines of "I'm the CEO. It's my job to decide what is and isn't absurd around here."

There are ten divisions. Creatively and effectively organized, those remaining nine can go a very very long way when coupled with careful role assignments.

I would like to see rent able slot at a station without having to rent an office. Just a single Corp shared cargo area to ease the transfer of materials

Yeah, to be honest, this idea is already covered by roles and titles. You can grant access to different wallet divisions and corp hangers through those, as well as POS access and the like.

Join any semi-large corporation with 2-3 characters, then ask for your own hangar division to sort your stuff, in a location where that is actually convenient.

Not. Happening.

That's what this is about.

Of course, the alternative could be to allow corps to have an arbitrary number of divisions.

But with normal divisions, I would be forced to entrust the new corp with all of my valuables if I actually wanted to use it the same way I do use my 1-person corp hangars now. And while my stuff is only worth at best ~2.5 billion, that's still a lot of isk.

I could've just suggested to allow a small amount of characters to somehow get shared hangars without a corp even being involved, but I was thinking that'd give NPC corps too much of an indirect boost.

Have a named and passworded can in one of the divisions.
