How to NOT make ISK in EVE:

Buying stuff and spending hours hauling it around to other stations to sell it at a profit - you can quite possibly make the same money simply by buying and reselling in the same station, with much less time input
Mine the materials you need to build something - instead mine whatever is most profitable, sell what you don't need, and buy what you do
Travel 3 jumps to save a small amount on ships/modules - instead buy the more expensive closer one and spend the saved time playing the game / making ISK

Essentially, keep your ISK per hour in mind when doing anything that is supposed to make you money. But never let a grind take over your life in EVE.


Oh, and as for whether you need ISK, I was in the game for about a year before I broke 100M ISK. It depends on your playstyle.

One good way to make money in high sec when you're just starting out is to salvage for lv4 mission runners.

also .. looting can be bad. only do that if your sure you can win a fight that could result from it.
