Another thread? Really? You need to train Forum Posting II.

I don't know of any laptops that cost $300 that aren't glorified tablets. In fact, my tablet cost more than $300 on sale. Methinks your budget is too tight for a gaming computer.

- You posted two threads on the same topic. That's terrible posting.

- I presently have three demo laptops on the desk in front of me. I've spent most of this week testing drivers and device functionality on a dozen models to determine which laptop is the best to deploy to several hundred employees over the next six months. I don't need to "actually look" to know that $300 isn't enough to buy a laptop for gaming, because it's part of my job.

Yes, I understand this. Which is why someone with "experience" in the field should be able to find one. Like I just did.

Your impending disappointment is almost tangible. Maybe we're just expecting different levels of performance. I'm thinking of a system that can handle a few hundred ships on grid without single-digit framerates.

I loaded Eve on a new windows 7 1.6gz duel core and it ran it well enough to trade some stuff to my new character.

Yes we are. I understand it will not play giant fleet battles. I am truly thankful for your posts.

I thought it was bad when the computer fought me, even worse when it fights itself...

I think you're going to be sorely disappointed with that system no matter what you're doing in Eve.

Eve runs on an EEE PC on low. Or look around on local online listings, you may find someone selling a laptop for not much money.

You MIGHT, just MIGHT run EVE off a $300 desktop, but a laptop? Not gonna happen. That 3100 GPU is worse than my onboard graphics adapter and the processor is painfully slow with almost no cache.

You won't find a (new)laptop for under $300 that will run Eve outside of station. You might be able to get a $300 desktop(just tower) that can run Eve, but you would have to watch graphic settings.

No such thing. If you're so determined to waste your money can I have it?

I found a typo, but don't worry. I'll fix it.

A $300 netbook won't get you two digit FPS on the login screen.

If you buy that laptop there to do any kind of gaming, then I feel truly truly sorry for you... At the very least double your budget and go for a desktop instead. Cheap laptops are horrible, you will be stuck with low quality components and warranty repairs that takes 2 weeks at a time. Trust me, I work at an electronics store, and the cheap laptops come back in loads for repairs and warranty service over and over.

ACER Aspire 5732Z is affordable and runs eve fine on lower settings. It has up to 1.6 gig of onboard video memory.

Alright, based on feedback I now know a cheap laptop is not gonna play eve. Is there a desktop build under 300 that can play it?(If so, please make links fr the builds)Can I play it if I can an older computer and replace the processor and graphics card? Or would that be more exepensive than a build?

Try Ebay or Ebay2

Both should run Eve Medium>High,
Possibly even 2 clients on low settings.

Laptops have and will always be more expensive gaming rigs than desktops when compared to equal performance. If you're looking for an all in one solution for day to day computing + gaming that is portable you're going to need to increase your budget. If all you have is $300 dollars and you can sacrifice portability then an older desktop + newer video card. You're still going to want to break that $300 budget but you will get more bang for your buck since most of the graphics processing is offloaded to GPU's these days. But I would think you could find a $200 older desktop and throw a $100 video card in it and still play Eve comfortably for one client.

Increase your budget to $500 and you might find a laptop with lowest acceptable performance running Eve. Or, you could still get that desktop in $300 and buy an old used netbook for another $100 and toss linux on it to have your portable computing. Older netbooks and linux run very well compared to windows.

Anyway, if I were going to buy a laptop for gaming and computer, personally, I wouldn't expect to find anything under $800 that would meet my needs. But then I don't own a laptop. I have a desktop that I game on and then an old netbook with linux for portable computing. But then I don't require a lot of computing power that's portable.

Don't ban me, bro!
