Getting groups of players together and having them act as a cohesive unit against a common enemy or work for a commonm goal seems like an exercise in futility lately. Im not talking 0.0 blob warfare either.

Maybe a live event of some sort might help foster a sense of community amongst players. Bring them together to say defend Jita against a Jove invasion. Embark with a convoy, 50 jumps to protect a Caldari diplomat while a Gallante fleet is deployed to kill him.

Everyone has their own individual agenda in this game, which is not a bad thing per se. Would it not be epic though to see 1000 ships from a multitude of corporations show up to engage a Jove carrier or something to that effect. People working together for once for a common goal that would benefit everyone (Unless you are the Jove in this case).

The CCP fleets were a novel idea but it seemed rather a short lived one.

Just wondering if others had any ideas for events that would bring players together?

Just 'herding cats' would have been good enough.

Also, learn how to spell Syndrome.

This is why highsec will never band together against the Big Blue Blob.

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

Don't use the cats directly, instead use the cats to train the rats (because rats are more trainable than cats.) Then use the rats to find landmines. Then recover the mines (using dogs,) put the mines in a nearby town, wait for the fear to set in, and then sell the services of your cats and rats and dogs to remove the land mines from the town. For additional pocket cash, sell dog meat burritos (at least until you're left with nothing but smart dogs.)

Rinse and repeat. Save some cash to buy forgiveness from your local religious institution.

edit: To be clear, rats/cats/dogs/town can be substituted with carebears, miners, gankers, Goons, Jita and CCP; in no particular order.

Pon Farr Memorial: once every 7 years, all the carebears in high-sec must PvP or they will be temp-banned.

There's thousand man fights all the time, you're just playing in the zone that's so safe and the rewards are so effort free that there's no reason for the vast majority of people to cooperate in order to achieve goals.

Wait untill it gets hard to not be in a fleet. Big smile I'll try a more serious response. I think it's simply about (light) social pressure. In lowsec / Nullsec / WH your fleet is the main body of protection. It determines the scale of objectives you can handle and the level of danger external threats truly pose. You want to be in that fleet whether you are in PVE or PVP, because being fleeted improves your abilities (fleet boosts) and overall coordination. The more people that desire to be in your fleet, the easier it will be to get one together.

For example we discovered a hostile small POS near ours. It was unfueled and it's owner was sitting in a neighbouring hisec system, possibly on his way to fuel it. The desire to remove it was high due to the actual history we have with this enemy, so people were very motivated to hop into a DPS ship and come tear it down while we had the chance. It all came down to opportunity, knowing we could handle the cost of failure, and the plain desire to see that tower burn.

Why would we want to? Where is the profit in it?

To become the blue blob ourselves? Sorry, but I have a life outside of EVE.

This is what happens when you spread the already limited brain power of the average player across 10-20 accounts, you get lemmings....

"Fozzie could not comment on when this issue would be resolved and stated that “one day Veritas will come up to me and say ‘hey I fixed off-grid boosting’”, but he had no idea on a potential timeframe for this sort of miracle."
